RotJ what green for the armor

I need some help and suggestions about what green is best for the RotJ armor.

I been following a few WIP thread and I see in the stencils that they say to use Hunt Club Green and some are using US Med Green. I find them when I search but I get different name brands and its either acrylic, rattle can and enamel.. I don't know which one people are using and which looks the best for the RotJ. I am trying to do this in one shot. I am working on my airbrush technique in this process also..

I don't know how I feel about the yellow I went with being that is what I was recommended. I guess I will see when I finish how it turns out. May look better after its finished.

Another question. Do you sand down each layer with 400 grit before you paint the next color for smoothness? Or should I just wait til the last coat is on and then sand it?

If someone can tell me what brand followed by the # of the green you used or suggest, this would help alot..

Thanks,
Derrick

I plan on using Tamiya Flat Field Grey (XF-65). I did some test strips and it turned out pretty good.

Hello .. Between layers i would use some 0000 wire wool with a light touch(important) and water to lessen the friction but do this only after the paint is completely dry( waiting is the hardest part) if you were to use sandpaper i would use a 1600 grit wet sand at least .. i found it wasn't completely necessary between each coat of paint to do the whole surface area that was painted. Sometimes just doing it around the damaged/ paint peeling areas to ensure all the goop is gone. as for the color i used for the main green i can't remember off the top of my head i was either Humbrol 78 or 117. i'll have to look when i get back to the house. Yes the yellow will look kinda funny until you see it with the green on top of it. I found the whole paint up i was experiencing that .. it just never will look quit right until its done and weathered :)

good luck

Justin

Hmm.. thanks. I will definitly do the steel wool thing before the green. Here is my WIP thread if you need pictures on where I am at.

Get back with me on the humbrol color. I do have 78, but I read that is for one of the light chipped color on the left top chest piece.. will need something a bit darker for the main green.

Thanks,
Derrick

I think I will just go with the Rustoleum Hunters Club green in the rattle can. Not getting much help with the Humbrol, testers, or model masters colors.
