General ROTJ SE

So it's official! BH-16972 ready for some hunting! I want to thank everyone here who has contributed time and constructive advice that pushed my build forward. Having said that, I will be back with ongoing revisions and upgrades, as is expected with this armor. Cheers!

I will be trooping in full gear for the first time next weekend, so I will post up photos after that.

PACKING

I thought I share with you my packing process that has proven effective over the two times I took my armor out for submission photoshoots. In the unlikely event you haven't already, you should check out this highly informative video post by @DeathProof which basically laid out the foundation of my packing process: Video: Storing Your Boba Fett Costume. Thanks Aaron!

Disclaimer: Parts made by different vendors will inevitably differ in size and construction. Hence I cannot guarantee that this method will work for everyone. I only hope this will help those out there with similar concerns and provide some ideas for their packing.

Since I don't drive, and in anticipation of overseas troopings where transportation may not be convenient, I prefer to use a suitcase since it is easier to navigate on its wheels. I found this Lojel Vita suitcase that I think has the largest capacity amongst other options in the market here in Jakarta;

20170430_112036.jpg

Capacity: 117L
Dimensions: 31.5 x 22 x 13.5 in

First, I cramp the smaller items into the jetpack body (mine is a Bobamaker);
*I lost the image file so I will try to reshoot and upload again.

1. The thrusters go into the sides.
2. Knee armors are wrapped in hip pouches, darts in first for protection, and placed curved down to fill the corresponding space in the jetpack body.
3. The shin tools are wrapped in the neck seal and placed on the knee armors.
4. Finally, the girth belt is laid out at the top of the stack.

Moving on to the suitcase;

1. The jetpack is placed on the side where the wheels are so it will be at the bottom when the suitcase is upright. It is wrapped in the flight suit for protection against scrapping from the other hard parts.
2. To fill my thigh pouches when I suit up, I fabricated open ended boxes with a corrugated plastic board. I use these as shock absorbers between the case and the jetpack.
3a. The harness goes under the jetpack, while the rocket and ammo belt flank the jetpack to fill the spaces.
3b.The boots form a frame and cushion for the gauntlets.
3c. The same corrugate board filler for hip pouches are used as shock absorbers at the "top" of the layout.
4a. One of the gauntlets is wrapped in the cape while the other is wrapped in the fabric covering that came with the case.
4b. Kidney plate is wedged between the shock absorbers and the gauntlet.
4c. The blaster doesn't fit in the case since it's too long. I modified the hinge so I can dismantle it and pack it in two parts. The scope is strapped tightly to the body with a velcro strip and the ends are wrapped with my gloves. The two blaster parts flank the sides of the jetpack.
5. Codpiece and back armor go above the jetpack side of the layout.
6. Finally, my vest goes onto the gauntlet side of the layout. In reality I use the thin foam sheet that came with the case to wrap the vest in to protect the armor plates.

And that's it! There is still space for my tool kit, clothes and toiletry bag while my helmet is packed separately in its own bag. I hope this has been helpful to you!

Hey guys. Completed my first troop last weekend as Fett and it was an amazing experience to say the least! I am still waiting for the photos from the photo booth sessions so I will post them up later. But here's one from a buddy's phone to show my full costume;

The tailor really did a great job in taking off the excess around my sleeves and legs, leaving just enough room for mobility.

In the meantime, I want to share some additional detail works on a couple of parts, mainly the helmet, in preparation for Infamous level submission;
Darkened the brownish smudge on the crack, added the white band that runs around the back above the mandible, added details inside and around the dent, and rust settlement along the edges of the visor window.

Helmet 11.jpg

Clear yellow stains and faint rust spots (at least that's what I assume they are) around the back. I used crayons and rubbed with a rag to blend it in.

I will be heading up to Legoland in Malaysia for their Star Wars Day celebrations this weekend. Hopefully I will survive the intense climate and humidity especially since my helmet fan system decided to give out halfway through last weekend. Carry on hunting!

I just returned from a weekend troop at Legoland in Malaysia over 13 and 14 May. It was my first international event and I was trooping alongside 105 other members from Asia; Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, and Australia. Needless to say I was pretty nervous about tripping up or having parts of my costume fall off. It turned out to be a really fun, social experience with lots of swag trading thrown in. Anyway, here are a couple of photos mostly from one of our event photographers John Gullidge;

The limited space means you get up close and personal with everyone.

Waiting for the opening parade to get organized. It rained halfway through but we pushed on.

Finally, I end with this image that, to me personally, symbolizes camaraderie between troopers regardless of where we originated from. I witnessed and experienced a bond that exists amongst us even though we only met for the first time.

It was such a huge relief that my armor held together well and I received several compliments, which is really motivating. I did kick my right boot into a curb and loosened one of the toe spikes. It's been fixed with epoxy putty and is curing now. I hope you liked the photos and please feel free to point out any issues with my armor. Signing out for now.

First off your Fett looks top notch, but if it was me I'd always want people to be honest with what they might see to help with. I think your gloves, spats, pouches, and belly on flight suit that shows could use more weathering. After awhile you'll realize that the dirtier it looks the better it looks for some reason, it's kind of nutty haha. Aside from something simple like that I think you look amazing and have a good body type for the costume. Looking great I'm sure it's super exciting having it all together so congrats man

Thanks buddy for your kind words and suggestions. Indeed, upon reviewing the photos after the event, I noticed the weathering got washed out and those parts look almost brand new! So I will be adding more weathering to them very soon.

As a rookie Fett, the whole experience was both stressful and extremely rewarding at the same time. My situational awareness got ramped up as soon as the bucket went on. I had to be mindful of my stance, my surroundings so I don't bump into kids or trip over stuff, is every piece of my armor and accessories still intact, is my rangefinder still upright, and the list goes on and on. After the initial wave of paranoia passes over though, it was really fun interacting with the kids and Star Wars fans in general.

I'm not gonna lie I just saw your post and read it from when you started last year and it honestly started getting me nervous for my build haha. I'm doing the exact same thing ROTJ SE Fett and the majority is being done by Bobamaker, set to be complete this December. I've been waiting since July last year. The thing that got me most worked up was hearing your issues with the jet pack. I can only imagine how your senses ramp up when your next to hundreds of people in public and sit back thinking "I'm literally wearing 6 grand right now" it's just nuts the paranoia must go through the roof haha
