ROTJ Gauntlet Build-Up & Painting

More being posted tonight. Time to wrap this puppy up!

OK. I *finally* got the mini toggles today. I was near a Radio Shack and figured "why not?", so I dropped in and got them.

I went with part # 275-626A, $3.99 EACH

Once you drill two 3/16" mounting holes, they look like this:



I might add some weathering to the metal parts on the right gauntlet using some "weathered black", but other than that...

I think I'm finally DONE!!!

I've received several PMs from people wanting to know how much these gauntlets ended up costing. Now that I'm done, I can calculate the total:

Gauntlet kit assembled: $160
Wisconsin Central Maroon paint: $4
Rock Island Maroon paint: $4
Weathered Black paint: $4

Man hours = about 50

yeah, the more i think about it, the more i think that's a BAD plan.

my avatar now is from a "gentle giant" style photo. i struck the pose, bronze/wood/aluminum EE3 out at full arm's length. after a few seconds, it got downright uncomfortable. after a minute, i was DONE, and anyone that didn't get a pic just wasn't going to.

Totally. I've been pretty healthy, then last December I suddenly pulled a muscle in my back, beside my spine, under my left shoulder. It swelled so badly that it cranked my spine over to the right. When the swelling finally subsided, my vertebrae pinched a nerve bundle as it was settling back into place. *OUCH*. I still have nerve issues in my left arm (the top of it goes numb from time to time, along with my thumb, index, and middle fingers.

Point being, it's *really* fun on long troops with the jet pack on for upwards of 8 hours, then the blaster, and NOW the gauntlets are sure to make it even MORE exciting! :facepalm

I'm just going to have to muddle through and do what I can, I guess. Probably have to keep my gauntlets and blaster close to my body so as to not strain anything. arrrrrrgh.....

Be careful and don't hurt yourself for the sake of a picture (that said, I would've done it too! ).
