What size of grommet do i use on my ROTJ cape? I have 1/4" brass grommet....i guess if i can attach it to my shoulder bolt it will be okay.

Well, if the hole is big enough to pass through the bolt, go for it. I think that 1/4" is a good one, and probably the perfect one for it.

Does anyone know what these screws are for? Are they screwed into a backing plate of somesort perhaps to keep the cape flat? anyone? anyone?

Those screws are a hold over from the PrePro fastening system that allowed one end of the cape to be "buckled" on the opposite side, creating a "Clint Eastwood-esq" pancho.

Basically those screws kept the fasten plate attached to the cape. The partially broken plate remained on the cape for ROTJ, even though the buckling system was abandoned.

I was wondering how exactly it is attached, as far as what part of the cape. Does it just attach to the coller with the one corner, or are the top two corners joined to attach to the coller?

The collar is attached for our costuming purposes, with velcro under the collar which connects with the top of the back armor. In the MoM exhibit, I think it was that way, or bolted to the back armor. TylerDurden probably have the answer to this.

As of the picture you see in this thread, the little piece you see with bolts on it, that was an attachment part used for the pre-production version, that probably had a hook or something that was filed or cutted out as you can see in the pic, that later they decided to do it more simpler just bolting the cape to one of the studs he has in the collar from the top. The cape has a grommet so it's easier to screw in and out (that's the way we use it).

For my cape I finally just added a snap to ot and the other side to my back armor a little behind the collar nuts about in the middle. It goes on easy, comes off easy, looks good and has been a very secure way for over a year now.

Right right, I got that, but which part of it is bolted on?
The cape is a rectangle, and you are attaching it to one little spot. So, is it just one corner of the cape, or the top two corners?

Just one corner is connected. It is the top right side of your good edge, not the torn edge.

It attaches just below one of the corners (look for the gold grommet in the bottom right corner of this image).

You can see in the pics below from MoM that there are two screws on there also. This is how the cape is attached to a triangular shaped backing plate (believd to be the Pre-pro attachment). This is not how the cape is attached in the movies.

In the pic below from RotJ, you can see that it is not attached via the collar studs. I'll have to look for a better picture, but I think there is a seatbelt-like attachment used to attach it in the films.

Hey, I've never noticed that before...and it's strange and curious at the same time...maybe that attachment was used all the time in the movies, and somehow the guys at LFL decided to go with the grommet method, probably with the result that the attachment was broke (see pic above at beginning of thread), and they had no other option....curious...mmmmm....!!!!:facepalm

ROTJ scene-gauntlet on wrong hand....

Hey whats up all, I was watching ROTJ last night, and I noticed in the scene where Bousch brings Chewbacca in for Jabba, and she whips out the thermal detonator, Boba swings his blaster up ready for action, then slowly lowers it, after Jabba starts laughing. anyway did anyone notice that boba's gauntlets are on the wrong hands in that scene?:confused I swear his gauntlet with the missile is on his right hand! I don't have this scene on the computer anywhere, but if someone else will watch it, and let me know if I'm right, or just going crazy, that would be sweet. I hope I'm right, because I know this suit has already made me crazy:lol:wacko

I think this is the flipped scene where his antenna is also flipped and cape on the wrong side. I could be wrong though...

...and did you notice that his rangefinder was on the wrong side...?

This is an old discussion. It's common knowledge that the frame was reversed in that scene. It has to do with the overall composition of the shot and where the action is leading the eye. Film-makers do it all the time. No one notices except us prop freaks.

The magical reversing costume...

Switch*a*roo!

The funny part is what people notice. Some people notice the rangefinder, some people the gauntlets. I noticed the rangefinder first I think, the helmet just jumped out as being weird looking, and I recognized what it was...but yeah, film makers do flip the film, but I haven't seen it happen nearly as often anywhere as in the OT. Jeez they did that a lot. Constantly you see people with their rank pins on the wrong side, or such things. And we can't even blame Lucas, because both Kirch and Marquand are guilty as well. Oh well.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had the correct dimensions for the real cape attachment piece that can be seen in some of the MoM pictures. It's the triangular piece that looks like a chunk of armor and it also has a couple of bolts on it. I have seen the picture before, I'm just hoping to have actual measurements to go by instead of going on what looks right. I would like to try and get the correct cape attachment for my ROTJ Fett. Thanks in advance and I appreciate any help you can offer.
