Respect for a 12 year old

Where to start… I guess Celebrations V- Best vacation ever? That was my family’s opinion as we headed home. We had lots of extended family met there and I was able to see my cousin’s nephew again… this is the only person I’ve run into who could hold a decent conversation about Boba Fett and I will admit I’ve learned some things from this kid!
His Boba outfit was built out of love and not $$.
Man this kid takes me back…. The true pure love of SW!!
So that got me thinking of doing something I have always wanted to do- a white concept Boba!!
No prob right… I now have the $$ I didn’t when I was young… let’s just start buying some stuff and put it together right….
Ok I have a whole NEW RESPECT for anyone who has built an outfit… and I will be reading this board A LOT more now…
Lessons to date…(learned the hard way) 1# the sweet flight suit bought at the army surplus store CAN’T be dyed or bleached white… 2# I think I would have to grease my head to get into the don post 95 helmet (yes both of these will be hitting ebay next week)
So any advice on a white build?
Sorry for the length of the post (first time- wanted to come out with a bang!)
Nate if you’re reading this… thanks for the inspiration Buddy!!
Attached is my favorite picture from the convention… Nate did you get her number?

CV was pretty freakin awesome indeed! The only concept Fett I can think of is "White Commando" but I'm not sure how active he is on here. I believe he is an admin on one of the clone trooper forums though.

Oh and Welcome to The Dented Helmet!

this ACTUALLY falls along the lines of a question thats been BUGGING me reeeeeeal bad.

as youve all probably noticed, theyve recently made a mas production light up kids helmet of fett's blaster too. now granted the blaster is severely inaccurate and scaled down, but i got that to look really cool.

now heres the hard part. has anybody heard of converting that working kids helmet into a adult model? like dremel tooling the face off and replacing it with a homemade or don-post-ish mask face?

it just seemed like a revolutionary idea, but knowing that im on a site of fellow mando lovers, i figure maybe SOMEbody may have tried this by now.

Mustangrevolver-thank you for bringing this helmet up… when I received my don post in the mail, I was very disappointed… I grabbed the boba fett helmet off my wall(in my opinion a toy) that had been a gift at C5 and did the unthinkable- took it out of its box- a first for me in many years. WoW! Nice head-strap system, range finder lights up when dropped down- very comfortable and it was only $30…. The only downside is the seam that runs across the top… But I believe this can easily be fixed and I’m going to repaint it white anyway.
I saw a picture of the toy blaster as well and am very intrigued… do you any shots of yours finished?

DarthBrik- I just called Nate and asked him to join this thread... I know he got his patterns here- I'll let him discuss his process

Hey! It's me, Nate! The kid who made the Boba Fett Costume in this post. Thanks, ObxFett for the post! It's awesome, man! All of the armor was made out of various types of cardboard that I painted. I used CHEEZ-IT, Mini Wheats and Caprisun boxes. The blaster is just a Star Tours Rebel Alliance Wookie Bowcaster without the bow. I was planing on buying the new Hasbro Boba Fett blaster and just painting it black. But I was not able to scrounge up enough money to buy it in time for the convention. But I think it turned out OK. If it wasnt for my grandmother, who lives in my house and can sew like a MAD WOMAN, I would have never been able to put this costume together. She sewed the pants and the shirts and stuff out of some old sweat clothing and many different types of fabric.

oddly enough not yet, but i am redoing the stock, as my first was pure ****, so as soon as i do youll be the first to see, my friend. ill add ya on here to keep ya posted.

you are my new favorite kid cosplayer, man. tell you what, if i can get this one to work, ill send you a blaster free, and show ya how i did it. or maybe ill even do it fer ya, but then ya wouldnt learn on yer own.

but seriously, youve impressed me nate, and thats hard to do if i may say so myself.

That is really BIG of you mustangrevolver !! Send it unpainted-I believe working on Fett is an escape for Nate in the houseful of women he finds himself in. I hope someone can take a pic of him when he gets a new gun!! We are still sifting through hundreds of C5 pictures he took with people. Buying his C5 ticket was money well spent, there was not a booth or action figure left untouched by Nate that weekend!
Therefore the title of this thread “respect”… that is not something I give away easily. I hate to quote a Sith Lord but…”we will watch your career with great interest”

Thanks, mustangrevolver!! I can't wait to see how it turns out! Are you making the stock longer, shorter, bigger? Either way, May the force be with you! I would be fine painting the blaster up myself! Let Me know how it goes.

lol well where to start...

well first off, obxfett, im simply a cosplayer sharing the love of the hobby with newcomers to the "sport", if you may.

i mean, its what cosplayers do fer eachother. helping along the way to help each reach their goal.

that and i sympathize with nate alot. i live in a house of 8 women, and a father who doesnt act like one. and when your practically 20 and your fam is causing issues, this sorta stuff makes a great escape from the real world.

lol also keep in mind im usallynot so fond of kids these days cuz usually their parents are irresponsible and dont raise em good. nate here, has proven the opposite, and is in fact a kid i can easily say i am glad ive met now.

youve made a great impression on us all nate, and i hope u know that.
