QUESTION: which jp harness system?

Felice

New Hunter
Hi all,

which is your preffered jp harness system? The accurate one or the vest systems like from MoW?
i just have experiences in wearing a TD backpack in there is just one system. Now, preparing my Boba project, i'm a little bit confused which system i have to take...
i ordered a MoW pack and i know that this one isn't very light.

so to make a point:) i need a harness system with the best comfort in wearing.

thanks for your help and
cheers,
felice

The metal rig is great (from what I've read), but I have an MOW harness, and it's very comfortable. You may need a little extra velcro on front of the harness to attach to the back of your vest to keep the harness from riding up. It's also thick, so it does add an extra layer which may make you a bit hotter. I don't mind though.

It's not as accurate, but it's also a fraction of the price.

I think that the riding-up issue (which can be corrected as per DeathProof's idea) and accuracy both point towards going for a metal harness. I have one, and it is a great solution.

I know little about the harness, and I'm a few months out from needing it, but would like to see pics of how to wear the metal one. If someone could post some up the next time they suit up wound be very helpful. Does it go under the flak jacket?

Yes it goes under the vest. I also agree, after having a strap style harness and then the metal one, that the metal one is far superior. The bar across the bottom supposts the weight at5 your waist and the hooks/straps basically keep it from flopping around. There is very little pull from the weight of the pack and i can normally troop 3-4 hours without back issues.

Here is a pre-pro shot of the harness

I really don't think sintra could handle the weight of a jetpack. If you were making the harness for aesthetics alone, then go for it. But I wouldn't make anything load bearing out of it.

Ok, the not-flopping-around is a great argument!!!
So i think i'll go with the metal rig:)

Thanks my Bobas for the support!!!

I'm not sure how heavy my JP will be. With much of my build, it'll be homemade so I'll have more of an idea of what I'm doing with the harness once the jet pack is completed.

Sintra becomes brittle over time, aside from it being incredibly fragile in the first place. It's really not a good idea. While it's your costume and you can make it however you choose. I sincerely urge you to use a better material.

I have Fett Seven's NME Props fiberglass jetpack. I could troop in that thing all day and night, it's so light! Even with the heavier metal harness, it's no problem at all.

I use a metal harness system (one of the early DragonFetts) and it is much more comfortable than it looks like....highly recommended for long troops or movie-shots !!!

Since I'm only 99% finished with my Fett I haven't worn it a lot, but for me it was no question about it, I went with the metal harness and fiberglass jetpack from RS Props/BFUK.

Right now I have the MOW JP harness and it looks like it would work, but my father owns a scuba shop and I'm hoping I can find an old skeleton style tank harness when I dig through some of the older boxes. I'd like to be as screen accurate as possible, but I've also engineered a fairly comfortable system with the MOW harness in my mind.

Homemade jetpack might end up being heavier then a fiberglass jetpack...keep that in mind

Curious what is the weight of a fiberglass jetpack. My scratch built pack weighs in just under 6 pounds, complete with rocket & thrusters & been wonder how it compares on weight.

I have a FettSeven fiberglass pack and it's 7 pounds. My BBF metal harness is another 3.5 pounds.

Thanks Mr Fett for that info on the weights. I have something in the works that will replicate & function as the metal harness does but be considerably lighter.
