Paints do they mix?

Hello everyone, I'm going through the rattlecan method to paint my armour, helmet, gaunts, knees and jetpack. My only problem is finding a good red.

I'm using Australian export paint, so it's enamel aerosol paints, same goes for primer. When it comes to paints I know they might not mix, but would another brand have trouble going over my primer? Say I got rustoleum Claret Wine would it crack it it went over my Australian export grey primer?

Also what is good sealant for a matte finish so the paints don't get all messed up, should I use Australian export clear coat? Or something else.


EDIT: this is my current red called Indian Red, it's a bit dark but I like it?

Other paints should do fine on the A.I. primer. Primers tend to be non-reactive once they are fully cured. Having said that though, it is best to test on a piece of scrap, allowing ample dry/cure times as you would on your parts.
i think the red looks good if the cap is a good indicator. You'd just need to be careful with the weathering making it too dark, but I think it'll work fine. Reminds me of Stormtrooperguys red on his ROTJ paint up.

I've been going over Stormtrooperguys paint job, it's very helpful to base mine off as a starting point. I hope that I'll smash it out soon.

My helmet is already painted in a grey primer, so I probably should sand it all down anyway
