General Padding for helmet and gauntlets?

I just received my full ROTJ Boba Fett suit from Bobamaker, which is fenomenal. However, I feel like both the helmet and gauntlets could use some sort of padding for comfort and fit.

What do you guys recommend?

I have a foam ring to keep it from moving and used a old yoga mat I found to line the inside.

Depending how your guantlets fit over your jumpsuit and gloves will determine if there is room for padding. They may not close propperly. Of course mine fit rather snug without it. I just normally give the inside a coat of flat black paint.

They will rotate around if I don't find some padding for the gauntlets - what do you recommend for those? Don't want them sliding around my arms

What sort of glue (or other method) do you recommend to make the yoga mat and foam stick to the helmet and gauntlets?

I stuck 2" foam in my gauntlets with double sided tape. They are snug and I can slip my arms through without opening up the gauntlets. My left one does roll outwards slowly due to the lopsided weight, so I just adjust it back from time to time.


My helmet is simply padded with military helmet padding that I got from eBay, and I installed a chin strap to hold the helmet in place so I don't look like a bobblehead doll.

I just used general spray adhesive like you find at a automotive store. Just happen to have it on hand after replacing my cars carpet.

Here's the padding in my concept boba. I've just basically layed down some masking tape inside on different areas like the back side, ears, dome to get a template and then I've cut them out from foam sheet with different thicknesses, covered them with this red fabric and glued them in. (next time I'll do it with velcros because I want to be able to wash the pads)

Because of all the electronics ,fans, etc., we used a basic set of helmet pads off of e-bay.
Then I made two foam cheek pads (the yellow ones) to prevent bobble heading. Good
comfort and air circulation.
For the gauntlets a velcro wrist strap (the red one) on the area where your arm is rectangular in cross section
really helps the top heavy gaunts. The left one especially. With the flight suit and glove we didn't need any more padding.

The padding in your helmet looks like the military issue style for their helmets. If I remember correctly, it runs about $20 on ebay...

The red straps were from a outdoor company called REI here in Minneapolis. They are for holding extra gear on back packs or whatever. If I remember they were around 18" long. Once I determined the length we needed I just cut and sewed them back together.

The padding was real basic stuff. There were 12 or14 pieces in a set. I think the real military padding could be thicker. This was about 3/4" thick and as you can see I added some blue foam to a couple of pieces to help the fit. It was less than $20.
Thought I would start inexpensive and it worked out fine. Have fun building.

I’ve seen something very similar at Home Depot in the section where they have the Velcro.

I used a hard hat inside for my helmet, bought a hard hat for £5 on eBay, cut out the clips and stuck them inside. Another option I tried was the fabric inner for an old combat helmet I had lying around. The hard hat fitted better in the end. 2C7505D9-CED2-4DE7-96CA-4109C0CE4F9B

For my gauntlets I used foam covered with duct tape.
