Official Jet Pack Waist Strap Buckle

I was wondering if it was ever determined if the one on the real fett suit had painted tape covering the front of the buckle or not? If so, any ideas on what color or what tape? same as the helmet perhaps? If it wasn't painted does anyone have a suggestion for a good way to remove/hide the lettering?
The assumption is that a piece of aluminum tape was placed over the "US DIVERS" stamp. This is due to the verticle "line" at the squared-end of the buckle (see Brak's first pic in this thread for reference). I ended up using my stamped buckle as the strap cuts in the back of it made the most sense for adjusting the waist strap. The plain buckle I had is designed more for a permanent, non-adjusting belt. Both buckles are pictured above in one of my previous post.

I would recommed using a lighter shade of whatever color you used on your chest armor for painting the buckle. The real one almost looks like a mint green.

I'll keep an eye out for one, I got mine off eBay for $10.

I know you can not post live auctions so...

try seaching under " US DIVERS dual scuba tank backpack&manifold " on ebay. There is one pack for bid there (current bid $20.5 US). I would bid on it but it says shipping to US only. :( Not up here in Canada.

Thanks! I saw the tank backpack on eBay. Now the only part of the backpack that you actually use is the lower straps, right? Or did Fett actually wear the whole thing under his vest?

No Worries,

I think you would have to heavily modify the pack because the only pics (I have seen) of the harness look alot different. Then again it will be completely covered by your vest. It just depends on how much of an accuracy freak you are. And if you are like most people on this board...

I plan on scratch building one when I get to it (unless I find a good buy).

There is an excellent post http://tdh.prop-planet.com/viewtopic.php?topic=7474&forum=6 on the correct (I beleive) JP harness.

BobaFettish has some great pictures on there.

I came across this thread again and thought I'd add my 2 cents about the vertical line at the squared end of the buckle. My buckles actually have that line. It's from the buckle being flipped open and smacking into the back part of the buckle. If you've got one of the buckles--try it. :)

Well, now it's got me looking again, with tape on the mind and I noticed the piece on the back of the buckle.
Looks like tape to me. Like it's peeled back.

It would explain the "inconsistencies" Brak's had mentioned.
Oh yeah, it is pic number 60.

Scored a dual tank "backpack" for .99 cents! Only thing was, shipping was $13, hehe. oh well. $13.99! It is the same exact one on Brak's site, same belt cuts and stamp. Since it's over I'll post the auction, maybe it'll give more ideas on what to search for.

One thing that helped me for sure was that the seller left a period out in "U.S. Divers" Probably kept some of you sharks away!

Cal you suck!

You ought to tell them to keep the weights Heck it will cost you more to ship the weights (that you may not need anyway) than it would for the purchase of the sale. :)

I thought about it, but IN my experience if you ask some eBayers to do anything they will do the exact opposite! send the weights and not the buckle and strap or something, so I dont want to confuse Him in any way.
