Need help on dying soft parts

I need to dye a MOW flight suit and maybe a MOW or Arkady vest ( haven't decided yet) . I have a bunch of RIT colors to use (liquid ) . I have never dyed anything before and was looking for some experiences.

1) Do you use the bathtub with a plastic liner or can I use a large plastic bin?
2) Do you need to fill it just enough for all the stuff to sit in?
3) Does the water have to be boiling or just kinda hot?
4) How do you figure out how much dye to put in
5) Can I test the colors on a t-shirt first and expect the MOW suit to react the same way to get some level of consistency?
6) How long does stuff have to sit in the dye /water
7) Will I need to use synthetic dye if I go with the MOW vest?

Sorry if this has been addressed but I would like to get this done this weekend as it is vital to painting the rest of my build.

It works best for me by boiling the water, pouring the liquid or dry dye in while it boils then pouring it in a 5 gallon bucket. (It has stained my bath tub before so I don't recommend doing it in there.) Then stick the clothes in the bucket with the water/dye mix, and stir with a paint stick for about 30-40 minutes. After words remember to wring them out, wash, and dry them

I made the mistake of dying my girth belt on my kitchen stove. Red dye everywhere. Still cleaning it up 2 years later.

I had to boil mine, though it was not cotton so I had to use a special dye. I let it sit for maybe 15 minutes?

I bought fabric the same as the MOW flight suit to make sure that it reacted the same with the dye. Dying my Boba flight suit was the most stressful part of that build for me. I made swatches & tried different mixtures till I got what I wanted. I modified some formulas for the dye that I got from off the RIT Dye website. I scaled the measurements down based on the amount of fabric. Before I did my suit I repeated the mixtures at least 3 times before I actually did the flight suit to make sure I got the right color.

I gauged the time for in the dye on how dark I wanted the color.

I boiled the water with the dye mixture then dumped it into a large plastic tub which I had full of the hottest water I could get from the tap. This will minimize coloring issues with your bathtub or even washing machine.

Keep stirring & don't let the fabric just settle.

Here is a link to where I described how I went about dying my flightsuit:

With the MOW vest I used just the RIT Dye pearl grey & it colored it. This was for my Jodo Kast build & if I had wanted it darker I could have used more dye coloring. To answer your question I was happy with how the color came out for me & I didn't use anything for a synthetic.
