Here is my method for making toe spikes, very simple.
you need a length of bar to bend round the front of the boot, all I did was draw riound the front of the boot on some card to make a template that fits my set of shoes, everyone's will be slightly different.
A carpenters pencil sharpener
take the outer guide out
glue a new guide in 12 MM wide
use some 12mm hardwood dowel and sharpen like a pencil.
cut it off and there you got a set of four toe spike in less than 5 min's
Just need to drill and counter sink your holes for the mounting points on the boot,
Drill the holes in the bar to screw the spike in place with, I used a resin on the thread of the screws when I fixed them in place so they wont come off...don't forget to counter sink some hols in the boots to recess the screws sticking out the back of the toe spikes,
PS it broke my heart to drill into these boots....meh...
