My ROTJ journal

Does this Major have influence over the 501st Garrison when it come to their apporval? so he is part of the 501st in that sense? I just don't want to cause arguments on two different fourms and act as the middle man

All I can ascertain from the 501st UK garrison is for their approval it's your ROTJ hero and ESB lid with added damage and that's the standard they are looking for a good base line SE version. I seen the damaged jetpack version and extra weathering here and there, and to me and it's all a bit to damaged looking almost like it's gone beyond somethings that is widely recognizable.

That said I will join the BHG and ask a few questions, see what feedback I get and advice

Many thanks Crumdum (y)

Let me help you understand some 501st information. Major (real name Robert) is the Detachment Leader of the Bounty Hunters guild. His handle on TDH and the bounty hunters guild is amazingly Major, hence why I used the name. Detachment Leaders are responsible for maintaining and developing CRLS for costumes that fall within their detachments area.

For costume approval, at a local level (aka UK garrison) the local GML can ONLY approve costumes that are fully complete. Of the costumes CRL's currently listed on the 501st website, only about 10 to 15% of them are complete (aka green). The ONLY Boba Fett costume that is listed as "complete" is the ESB version, and there are updates that should be applied to that costume as well. Every other version of the Boba Fett (there are 7 other 501st recognized versions) is partially complete or incomplete currently (Yellow or white). A Yellow or white costume requires input from the LMO (Legion Membership Officer) and DL (Detachment Leader) for approval. Basically, until the CRL is green Major has a part in your 501st costume approval process. Any approval of costumes beyond the tier 1 level is also done strictly at the detachment leader level (again approved by Major).

I hope this clarifies how the process works as it can be confusing from an outsider perspective. Major's main focus in the detachment is updating and completing outdated CRLS which are rampant within the detachment currently. I know he is focused specifically on sorting out the issues on the RoTJ SE as there really are two different costumes there...the promo shot version and film shot version (two versions for one costume).

To give you an example, the 501st site currently under RoTJ lists the side belt pouches as beige when the detachment lists those pouches (correctly) as khaki in color. People who are dying their pouches beige before the switch (which is hopefully coming soon) will not be approved when the RoTJ costume CRL completes.

Very in depth but I understand, so to that end I think I am going to hold tight before I continue with my application until the CRL Is sorted out, I don't want to change something that can't be undone..this hobbies cost money lol...

Thanks for clearing that up.. I will be poking around the bounty hunters guild for sure...

PS my head is full of so many prospectives from so many different angles, I am on TDH the RPF the 501st uk and now the BHG....head is spinning with information...

Time to take a step back a little and gather some correct information

Cheers

No problem, but there is no reason to stop and give up on finishing your outfit. I was just providing you the resource you should use (Major) for running your changes by for approval. Information posted here, RPF, thebhg.net, and even the Mandalorian Mercs differ for different reasons.

It all depends on what YOU ultimately want from your costume. There are differences between the requirements listed for Boba Fett membership that I had to resolve to become an approved Boba Fett in both the 501st and the Mandalorian Mercs as there are differences between their costume guidelines. ROTJ (not SE version) is complicated due to the number of different costume parts worn during the filming of the movie. There were 4 different jet packs worn during the filming of the movie as one example, not including multiple gauntlets.

Look over the working CRL on thebhg.net, contact Major regarding any changes he has in mind, and run your changes by him. If you're cool with him you will be fine for 501st membership. He's a great guy, always willing to help a new Boba out with detail issues.

I also bumped into a Jedi on a narrow gang walk, this was bound to happen :D

Now down to the WIP on this what have I discovered, my gauntlets are heavy and my Jet pack will kill someone if it fell on them, I need to lighten them up... maybe time for a new set and improve, I also don't actually like my EE3 blaster.... That needs to be improved

the only this that went wrong with the outfit was a wire snapped on my range finder so I lost my up and down function and a kid (or something small) snagged on my right gauntlet and bent the little cuff tab, other than that it all held up just perfectly.

All in all two perfect days but there are things to upgrade for sure..

The wrist numb thing happens to me as well. It comes from your hoses pushing up your gauntlet onto the back of your wrist area....specifically around the thumb area. I have a small piano lock hinge on my right gauntlet, but have magnets at the front end of my gauntlet. This allows me to pop my wrist when I feel it getting numb and twist it to relieve pressure in my wrist.

Was great, a small room not many people there had the guy to my self for 20 min's just chatting, poor man looked tired he only just got back from the states but still doing the rounds (y)

I split a pipe on my gauntlet ( it was getting worn out) so I just cut it off and got on with the day without it, no one noticed (or cared) I am getting horrible eyeball head aches from my visor, it has a slight lens effect to it and it feels like I been wearing someone else glasses all day :cool Not much I can do about that but hey ho..

I am making mods to my outift here and there, the more I troop the more I learn what can be improved for comforts sake, I will update on my findngs with that soon.

I have however now been accepted in the Joker Squad UK after my version of the SE Fett was cleared :D I now have a band of brothers to troop with at nation wide Comic Con's, Charity events and so on, I was given the events calendar for 2016  there is a lot of trooping to be done, doubt I will make them all but the option is always good.

Man things have been busy of late things really have gone 0 to 60 in the snap of a finger, so far all is well with the Joker Squad and the events for the summer are looking great, I have been offered to take part in something in the near future that I have to keep my lips tight on (so watch this space on that) and I have started another Bounty Hunter, this time I will be making Boushh for my Girlfriend, she is more into it that I first thought and looking forward to it as much as me, I am goin to turn my hand at pep files on this one to see what potential they have etc, I will start a new thread fo this build,

I am also in a mix up with the 501st and the Bounty hunters Guild at the moment aiming to improve my current SE Fett but I have a bit of conflicting information on things at the moment so I am taking a step back until I can get the correct info,

I am also going to start a 3rd helmet again in the ESB get up to stay with my SE Fett, and my build medium will of course be the Target helmet

This thing suprises me on how scaled it is, it's within a few MM of Raf and WOF's templates, the dome is a tad flatter on the top but other than that it will do the job with a few mods here and there, this one will be a slow project seeing as I have so much on at the moment but I want to get it right...

If that is the target helmet....if seeking 501st approval...you will probably run into issues with approval. This coming from Jc27 who is the XO of the bounty hunters guild. Pinging him here so you get straight information.

I'm curious what conflicting information you've received so far on the SE Fett as I don't see any in your post on the other boards. Remember for SE Fett there are two accepted costume types...promo and Film. Film generally is the easier of the two costumes to do because of some of the oddball things thrown in for the promo shots.

Its was regarding the pouch position on the belt, the 501st said overlap the pouch hoops around the belt, the BHG said the pouches can come from underside of the belt, and as for the target helmet there didnt seem to be an issue with 501st after I sent a link to the fella doing my clearance, as long as the paint job is up to standard it was fine, plus I bet I f had not said anything about it being a target helmet and told someone I painted a Boba Maler helmet they would't even look twice ;) I have had a hard time getting on the uk garrison lately due to some web site issues so have not be able to check for updates,

I undertsnd there are a few versions of the SE Fett but frankly I dont really want to look like the Don Bies version as by that point in production the outfit was falling apart  so I dont really want to replicate something to look worn out beyond it it's original intention,

From what I gather the Hero outfit is ROTJ bottom half with ESB lid with extra damage thats from the UK 501st CRL.

I will try to get this up to 100% as much as I can but to be honest I am happy with how my Fett turned out, if I can improve areas I will, if something means I have to go to the dark side of the moon and back for a tiny little clip or something I am not to worried.

There is so much help around from web site to web site that offten I find people have their own personal opinion on what's screen accurate and that normally leads to a small argument :facepalm so I want to avoid that and keep the peace and just have fun doing this along the way (y)

I will get there like so many others before me have,

I'm going to ping @Major on this since there is one 501st Crl and its maintained by thebhg.net. If the Joker squadron is a 501st group they MUST follow information posted from thebhg.net. That's how it works in the 501st. I don't know why they would maintain a separate SE CRL for Fett unless the are not a 501st group.

You are correct that everyone has an opinion on How a Fett should look. If you want to be in the 501st the only opinion that matters is posted on thebhg.net. If you wanted to join the Mercs the only opinion that matters is on the merc forums as stated by their approval team. If you simply want to cosplay the only opinion that matters is your own. The reason I sent you to thebhg.net was so you got the right info...not different ones.
