Mojo's FP ESB Paintjob (loads a pics)

Yeah that humbrol maskol is good stuff, just don't leave it for a few months and then go back to it thinking it'll be ok, it wont be, it ends up like porridge!!

Nice job, Gav!
The first set of pics looked great, but the daylight pics look better!
Don't you love peeling off that mask and seeing how it turned out?
Hope your yellow turns up soon so you can post some more pics. :)

Mojo, I'm getting my ESB armour soon and I'm going to paint ( spray ) it myself. What are the colors you used?? Shoulders too?? Thanks, Fetthappens

Hey bud,
Depends on what type of 'spray' you mean? rattle can or airbrush? If the later again it can depend on where you are from? (sorry if this seems stupid) I'm in the UK and used various colours from what we can get over here?
If your in the good old USA then check out DM's thread as all the colours can be sourced from there?
Always remember too that depending on the eye, some custom mixes will be needed?

Hey, Your right Lot to consider. I'm in the US and I'm using airbrush, is the basic green penzer olive green?? Does the green match the helmet?? Sorry, Who is DM?? Can i look him up under Dm. Thanks for the info, Fetthappens

No worries bro... DM is DarthMiller and he is painting the ultimate ESB for JB himself? All the colours he is using is mentioned in his thread bud (I think)... The base is not Panzer but the lighter highlights are? then the grey/black mists and then the earth tones...

I'd be foolish to steer you in the wrong direction when DM can totally direct ya? ;)

Cheers for looking at my thread and read it...

This armour just gets better and better mate. When you going to put the yellow on though?

I might have to pick your brains further soon though Gav, as i will be getting some new knees and shoulders (we will have to talk paint )

I'm waiting on my paint supplier to get his thumb out of his... and get my Zinc Chromate to me! :facepalm

I've got my base coats onto my shoulders (will shoot ya some pics) but still need my YZC to spray onto the left shoulder...

Cheers for the comp Jon... ;)

Nah.... Altho when I got home last night, the postman had left a notice through the door saying that they had a package for me? So fingers crossed it's the zinc chromate and my RLM blue/green for the back of my lid! ;)

So may post updates soon bud... also on our other home...

Ok...

Small update - My Zinc Chromate came in and I went to town *a bit*

First the shoulders... Thanks to our friendly neighborhood Spidey I covered both bells in the same base colour then sprayed the ZC over the left till I was happy with the results...
The right I then mixed a yellow/orange for the over spray to enhance the areas of damage to come... :p
More layer/over misting will be needed on both bells to be complete.

Next the Armour... Applied the ZC to the damaged areas (still a little bright) and will be toned down/brought together with a little wire wool... once I am happy I'll start the darker over sprays especially over the right side of the Ab plate.. (Cheers Alex) ;)

So pics.... Any critique is welcomed guys?

What's this? Gav...you're going ESB?!? How dare you sir!!!

I'm sorry but I'm afraid I'll have to confiscate your armor and the simply sweet [IMHO] job you've done on it so far!

Nice bro, real nice!

Thanks for sharing!

Stay safe,

Tim.

Damn it!! What a nice job you've done, can't believe you were unsure about posting all these mate, hey I may have to borrow your source for the ZC as mine dried up :facepalm Seriously nice work bro (y)

Hei Mojo! Really nice work on this armour. I really like the ZC on it. You now must remove the mask fluid on the shoulder, no? :D

Tim - Cheers bro...yeah ESB all the way for me? thanks for the comps! ;)

Joe - Again thanks for the prompting bud... appreciate it!

Kaane - You sorted your own supplier of YZC yet?

Well I got some more work done this weekend, but needs a little more work, altho not too much as you can go too far I think?

I managed to get the cod/kidney and collar plates painted up over the weekend and here they are so far... a little blending and of course the yellow ZC and I'm good to go I think? :p

The right shoulder has now had some additional weathering but still needs more grey/black scorch marks etc.. (really need to do more on the Left!)

Any advice/comments more than welcome... :cheers
