Knee pad repair thoughts...

Hi, so I bought some awesome pieces of armor from Robotarot and included was the knee pads I knew when I bought them that this one had cracked at the stress point. I was considering fiberglassing it back together and then bending an flat aluminum dowel and reinforcing it on the back, but it's such a weird shape back there that I can't bend it to stay flat against everything it needs to... Also I bought a "60 second" epoxy that is supposed to bond to metal and Fiberglas... (Here is a tip, after 2 hours it still hasn't dried or bonded anything.. Hasn't even begun to to harden)

anyways i I thought I would take it to the forums to ask for help, any thoughts?

Those look like Fiberglass knees, so i would use an epoxy to get them at least together and then fiberglass it on the back like you already suggested. If there is a gap on the front you can use body filler/bondo to fill and sand it.

If the epoxy you used hasn't hardened it may not have been mixed properly, or a bad/old package. It shouldn't take that long, especially if its "60 second". You may be able to super glue it with zap-a-gap to get the parts to stay. The fiberglass is what will reinforce and strengthen it.

If you dont kneel down, you shouldn't need anything like the aluminum dowel. There is very little stress on the knee armor unless your kneeling on it.

Hope that helps ya

Also, I had to stop buying 1 minute epoxy because it would harden before I could even finish mixing it. There is definitely something wrong.
