Knee armour assembly

New Hunter
Hi all,

I have decided to use the WizardOfFlight templates for the basis of my armour but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to assemble the dart side ! Help !!

After printing on paper and copying over onto plastic I'm still puzzled on assembly , I must look like neanderthal man looking at a rubiks cube.

Even looking at diagrams on other knee armour builds I can't seem to figure out the dart launcher

When I built a pair for my wife....I built it with wood. It's 3 dimensional. You can't use a flat piece of plastic to make that part.

Thank you for the suggestion - thats a great idea as i have wood left over from doing the blaster stock.

I'll have a go with wood tomorrow , after seeing force awakens of course

I used Sintra, for the knee dart blocks you need to use 7 layers and glue them all together. Wood is good if you have the tools, but its hard to hide the wood grains.

As its been christmas I haven't started just yet - as Im planning on doing 2 builds I will check both approaches.

The only trouble I have is trying to find sinter here in the uk. Most folks look at you blankly when you ask for it at various builders merchants

You need to go to a plastic distributor. I could not find it in any store.

Sintra is a brand, so just ask for expanded PVC. I believe the UK has Foamex???

If you do wood you can hide the wood grain with Bondo glazing putty. Just a thin layer and light sanding will fill in wood grains pretty nicely.

Or you could try using MDF, which has no grain. You'd still end up having to glaze it though, which kinda defeats the purpose... Though, MDF is very easy to work with.
