Jett Pack Hooks

For those of you using hooks and rings to secure your pack, rather than quick clip type things...

have you ever had a problem with the hooks coming unhooked?

my jet pack doesn't sit right against my back, so i need to redo the harness system, and am thinking of going this route. i'm just nervous about losing the pack.

I don't use the hook system, but I do know somebody who does. And what you fear about the hooks soming loose can (and did) happen. Your are usually OK until somebody bumps into you or you bump your thruster into something.

Do what Darthmiller did along with his connectors.

Use velcro on the backplate and jet pack. Yes, that is not "screen accurate" but by golly it WORKS! :)

It keeps the pack stable and it does not flop around.

Yeah, I had problems with my hooks coming out all the time when I first rigged up this system. Everytime I would bend over a bit or turn a specific way, the hooks would pop off the rings. Eventually I had to move my straps up higher so there was more down tension from the JP. I mesed around quite a bit before I got it to stay hooked all the time. You should be able to get it to work correctly if you mess with it.. I would start by moving your attachment starps higher for starters, & see if that helps. If that doesn't work, you can move your bottom attachment lower. Pretty much anything that puts more tension on your hooks will most likely take care of the problem for you;)

My BM jp is on its way(y) I had BM reinforce the interior of my jp so I can use the HOOK system and stay movie accurate. With the hook plates attached to the outside of the jp I should have no worries about the jp falling to the ground:confused . I used the same system with my previous jp (RA) which was a good deal heavier than the BM jp.
Considering the extra weight of an RA jp I did not have any problems with coming loose. One sure way of preventing this from happing is to make the hooks a hair smaller than the "D" rings.
