Jetpack painting

Having recently received a painted jetpack from another TDH member, I'm wondering whether it looks right. While the paint job and weathering is incredible, it looks rather... flat. Presumably in the Star Wars universe a jetpack would be made of metal and have some sheen to it, whereas mine has vibrant colors but is dull (flat paint, dull coat) which makes it look.. fake. Should I try to put on something to give it a bit of sheen, or just keep it as is?
 
The flat colors look right to me. It might be that he used dullcote over a chrome/silver paint which tends to make the silver look gray rather than dull metal. Why don't you take some of your own photos in natural light so we can really see the sheen of the different layers.
 
I think the person who painted the jetpack (and did a great job) used this image with faded colors of the ROTJ jetpack (photographed by David Heilman around the time of Empire) but added all the extra scratches as can be seen today in the exibits (AoSW/C-IV):
