Jetpack Build Up - WIP

Hi All

I decided to have a go and construct my own Jetpack.
I used WoF's awesome templates as a base, scaled them slightly bigger and changed a few bits to make it easier to construct from 3mm and 5mm foam board.

I know you lot like a step by step build so here goes

I got the majority of the parts CNC cut.

A couple of hours or so later and its coming along nicely.

I'm off to get some lunch so more to follow later! :p

This is great. Good timing too, as I'm going to do the same to replace my cardboard jetpack when I finish remaking my armor. I'm curious about how much you scaled it up, and how you decided how much to do that. My cardboard version seems small on me, I'm 6'2". It's reassuring to see you can shape the 3mm sintra (what I also have) to make the center tube. Do you think you'll be able to do the same for the side tanks? I was thinking of using thinner sheet to make caps and other shapes from.

From memory and without looking at my artwork files I scaled it to 415mm wide which is about 16 1/4" I just scaled it to what i thought looked right to me looking at reference pics.

The side tanks will be made from PVC pipe, I got a 2.5m length of pvc pipe from the local building suppliers and its close enough to the size I need... in theory you should be able to make them out of a sheet by heating and bending it.

Very nice!! What program did you use to scale them? I've built a few packs (all kind of imperfect ones built the week of a Con) so the next one I do I want to be closer to the actual size. Any advice on scaling these?

I re-drew them up in vector format (so Illustrator or Corel Draw etc) then scaled them to how I needed the jetpack to be, then I exported the file to a CAD format ready for cutting. I cant remember the actual percentage size I went for but I can check my files later if you need to know.
