Humbrol to other paint conversion chart

Hello everyone,

I did not want to post a link, because I am very new to TDH and I did not know what is allowed yet. I read a lot on painting and Humbrol is usually what most people use. I am scared of enamels, so I was looking for acrylic alternatives which I've used years ago. I will start painting my first Boba Fett helmet after September, so I don't want to mess up and get the wrong paint.

I came across this conversion chart this week, so I am NOT taking credit for this. It's Humbrol to Vallejo and then Tamiya to Vallejo. Of course, Humbrol 78 (cockpit green) does not have an equivalent with Vallejo. So I am sticking to Panzer Olive Green (98).

Sadly this list only has the Vallejo number and not the actual paint name. If I have time, I will add the names to the Vallejo. I used Jayvee's ESB color list to find the Vallejo equivalent and it worked great. I ordered the paints and should be in tomorrow. If they look close, I will update this.

I hope this helps somebody looking for paint alternatives. If this is not allowed or if this was already done before, please delete this post mods and I apologize.

Thanks,
Gari

haha...no no....when I have time, I will shrink it down to the essentials. I just got excited and posted quick like a super noob. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi do you know the humbrol or vallego conversions for testors zinc chromate yellow and dark euro green ?

Yes, Vallejo do model air. Here are two pictures of a quick and dirty test I did a little while back with some of the possible main helmet green colours. The picture was taken in bright sunlight using the camera on my Samsung phone. The second had the flash on.

Interestingly both of the Vallejo colours are given as FS34158 despite clearly being idfferent colours.

1). Top left: Vallejo Panzer Olive. 71.096

2). Bottom left: Testors MM acrylic POG 1943

3). Top right: Vallejo German Uniform. 70.920

4). Bottom right: Tamiya Field gray TS78

thanks for the pics comparison...now question is (I'm a noob)...which one is the most correct color to use?

Think that's a matter of opinion....since theres so much weathering done to the helmet nothing from the bottle is going to be "correct" out of the bottle. You can get a good result with any of those really....

As F4R says really. Of the Vallejo the German Uniform trumps the Vallejo POG for me but the Testors POG 1943 would be my preferred choice. The Tamiya doesn't work for me. I tested these colours under various lighting and the POG 1943 seems to behave in the curious ways that the ESB helmet colour seems to to.
