Girth Belt How to put on the belt?

I have worn many belts in my life, but I can't seem to figure out how to put this one on. Anybody with a similar belt that could post a guide on how to do so?

Thank you in advance!

The belt should hang somewhat loose on you, so what I do is put it on in the front and then turn it around. I usually have it one notch wider on the bottom to make room for the cod/kidney armour.

Be it on the front, on my couch, or standing, I can't figure out how to close it properly :p

I would probably end up putting it on in the front, but I need to figure out how to put it on first :D xD

Just like a regular belt:

If you can't do it by yourself, ask someone for help to put it on you?

Just like hooking up two belts at once. But the process for each one is the same. Just run the belt through the buckle and put the piece through the hole.

Putting on the girth belt is actually incredibly complicated. As you are facing the rear, the right side is sewed on to the end of the girth belt. It is then run under the second rung in the belt on the left side and putting the prong through a hole in the belt, then running the belt over and under the third rung on the left side and bringing it back across to the right side and going under the first rung, putting the prong through another hole in the belt, and running the belt over the second and third rungs and tucking it under the third rung.

Once you get it right a couple of times, it makes sense, but it is hard to figure out the first couple of times. As to tightness... I make mine tight. The lower belt needs to be tight over the kidney plate. Otherwise, it will fall down under the kidney plate and it will look sloppy. The top part can be as tight as you want, but I prefer that to be tight on me too, primarily just to hold my gut in.

Wow, I've been doing this for 1-1/2 years and didn't realize it doubles back! Mine is sewn on the left and buckles on the right, so it's easier to put on. I sharpened the prongs so they poke through the webbing more easily.

Yeah. Look in the gallery. It took me a while to figure out how to do it properly.

Once you have cut the belt, you are done. It's not that big of a deal. What tipped me off was that the prong on the left side always looked useless to me (especially the upper one). Turns out that the right side is doing all of the work.

Gotcha. I wasn't sure whether industrial strength elastic would hold up. Thanks though!
Do the supplied straps work adequately? I've seen some of these girth belts on amazon that need a dye job and come with straps.

No, you wouldn't want elastic cause it would stretch out and possibly fall.
I used webbing for mine and it's easy to wear.

If the supplied straps are nylon type, they should work.

This is how our belt looks. After this picture we converted to elastic the same width with no problems. Just shortened the distance
between the holes in the belt a little to ad tension. With the side studs on the armor nothing has moved for us and it's much easer to put on.

Another way to think about it is when elastic is held between two points it stretches just between them over its entire length.
So the front piece for each belt goes from the right buckle to the hole for the left buckle pin. That's one division of stretch. It then goes behind and back over to the buckle pin on the right buckle. That's two separate divisions of stretch. This is repeated on the lower belt for essentially a total of four separate stretch units working in unison. You don't have to stretch any one of them too much... so they should last over time. This,of course, will go against the" purest"point of view but it does look virtually the same as a solid belt when trooping. Just another choice.

First of all I want to apologize for a mistake in the previous post photo.
The final pass through of the strap on the right hand buckle should be through the first hole
in the buckle so that no vertical posts show when the strap is pulled tight behind the girth belt.
Here is a picture using the elastic straps we use when trooping and the correct lacing.
