Horsehair Wookie Braids by Julie: Signup & Interest

***This run is now full***

I will consider doing another run after C4 if there is enough interest and feedback from this one.

The top entry will get updated tonight with everyone who is in on this run.

Thank you all for your interest, help & support!

Julie

The braid in the top of the pic has been through two bleachings while the bottom braid has been through 3. A larger image is at the bottom of the Wookie Braid Gallery.

I'll be bleaching the 1st round of black/white braids tonight for the third & final time. These are for TK7602, Stone Rook & Ripcode. Hopefully I will have your sets completed and ready to ship by Monday January 8th. That's the plan at any rate :)

I am also planning on taking and uploading some more pics either tonight or tomorrow.

I completely finished the 1st black & white braid today. Bigger pics are in the gallery. The glue was still wet when I took some of the pics so it shows up in a few of them. When it dries though it's clear. I also posted some pics of the turk head knots for the set of braids that hang down that are located at the bottom of the gallery.

Pics are up in the gallery of Ripcode's set & of the first part of Stone Rook's set. I've got a busy few days ahead of me so I probably won't be posting more pics until Sunday night.

Mine arrived today. They look AWESOME! So well worth the $$.

I love the feel of the horsehair. Really makes me feel like I scalped a wookiee ;)

Thanks!

I'm Fetting it up this weekend, so I'll get pics of them in action!

Good pic of the MOM braids

It appears through this pic and the pic in Julie's gallery, that there are 4 braids. There looks to be another small dark colored one next to the black/blond dyed small one. The thick blond one has maroon and black wraps, the thick brown one has blond and blue wraps. The mini black/blond dyed one has the mini dark one following it halfway down the front, then it appears to blend in with the black/blond one. Then it looks like the black/blond one ends with a turks head knot section, while somewhere down there part of it might wrap back upwards through the red wrap and then cross over and end up with another turks head knot in that section.

OK, I just look at my Boba Fett reference CD with the super close up high res pics of M.O.M. and there is definately 4 braids in that configuration I just mentioned. Also, all 4 of them are wrapped together with more black wraps right behind the shoulder armor.

*1/14 update*
This got me looking, and it appears the M.O.M. braids could also be the ROTJ movie braids. The ESB and ROTJ "Special Edition" Bobas have different sets of braids, as does the AOSW exhibit suit. Looking through the Chronicles book at the 3 Pre-Pro suits, the M.O.M. braids are the Pre-Pro suit braids....the one with the "eyes or ears" drawn on top of the helmet. They are the only set that have turks head knots and the black/blond braid on it.

I got a chance to work on the first of the extended sets this weekend. Here are a couple of progress pics. The larger versions are in the gallery.

Here's the 4th braid I was talking about at the M.O.M. exhibit. Same small size as the black/white braid, but just next to it. It looks like it ties into the black/white one at the bottom in that picture.

....and like I said I noticed those M.O.M. braids are from the one Pre-Pro "Ears helmet" suit....

Usually I do. My work just happened to be closed today so I'm working on Boba stuff at home.
I got more pics if you want them. ;)

Looks like the one with the turks head knots is a big loop tha has two ends coming off it with some wrappings a couple inches down, each with the turks head knot on it, kinda forming a figure 8 in that last pic, only the ends are separate. Somehow that other little thin dark braid connects along the side of it, and there is yet another "tail" somewhere linked in there.

The other two are just loops with one long section hanging down. So, that's 2 "tails"...the turks head knot one (black/white thin) also has 2 "tails on the bottom, and somewhere up the length, just another "tail" hanging off by itself?

They used it to attach the cape across the front of the costume from the typical position we normally see across the front of the body, and clip there.
