Help with WoF gauntlets

Thellmann

New Hunter
I have the WoF templates, and I am working on the right one at the current moment. I have the little accessories cut and glued, but now I have to actually form the gauntlets themselves. I am using 1mm sintra, and whenever I place a piece in boiling water it warps in a few seconds. I cannot get this stuff to do what I want. Does anyone have some advice?

The first thaing that I've noted is that the 1mm thick sintra will heat up very rapidly, this is why you're having the warping issues. The boiling method is normally used for much thicker materials, like 2mm to 3mm sintra or styrene.

You could try just quickly dipping the sintra into the boiling water, so that it dosen't heat up as much... or you could simply use a hair dryer to warm it up. Then gently form it.

When I prototyped them initially I also used 1mm sintra/foamex and if you look very closly it has a grain?! yep, at least thats what it looks to me...
I placed the template so that when the cut part was made the grain ran length-ways down the pattern.
I then used a hairdryer to heat the sintra (which was stood up on it's longest side) and pushed gently... this with the heat made the piece start to form a uniform curve... keep doing this till the desired curve is made...
Then glue the (inner/outer) parts together and you should end up like this. (y)
