I have no idea if this was known or not, but i found out what these types of scope rings are called from a guy with over 30yrs experience in guns/scopes/mounts etc. They are called "Mossberg tab style grooved receiver rings". Hopefully this will help some of you find them. He said he had 1 pair, so i offered to buy them from him...heres hoping he sells!

So..it pays to dig and dig and dig....not only did i find out what they were, but this guy decided to sell me the set for $20!!!! He said "they'd be cheaper if these were the ones with the short tabs, but these are hard to find in not rusted condition". he has no idea what people will pay for these things LOL!

So..here they are...i am beyond excited!

Thanks Terrell! This was actaully a guy from e-bay that has a store. I had won a "LOT" of scope rings from him a couple of months ago for $10 that i bought just for the rings like these with the shorter tabs, or as we call em, "feet" I was thinking about it today, and thought... i should ask if he knows what these are, and if he has them. He seemed to know alot about types of this kind of thing n such. Turned out he had a set, and now i couldnt be happier i decided to ask lol.

I had bought the last set i had for $75...then Gino wanted them so bad he offered me a very nice buck for them, so since i had the ones with the short feet, i figured good enough for now, and sold the real deal ones to Gino. Every now i then i regretted doing that lol But now....no regrets!

Hey Lou , Suppose you already have you ASI 4x20 scope ? Was following one on ebay that finished sunday , it went for £180 , too much for me . Everyone had an ASI scope on their air rifle when i was a kid in the 70s , think i'll just keep scouting the junk shops

haha. I have an equivalent scope i got from Kurtyboy. Exactly the same except for the branding. I dont think it was ever 100% proven it was an A.S.I. brand. But it is definately the same type/style, with the windam knobs. There are several scopes that are just that, exactly the same, just branded different.

ASI 4X20 Scope - Boba Fett Costume Resource

Yes, I've wondered about this. I'm pretty sure that the ASI was definitely identified on another prop that wasn't Boba's blaster (someone help me out here, I've forgotten) but I wasn't sure it had ever definitively been identified on the Boba (I welcome correction).

Is it the case that knowing the ASI was definitely used on one prop that people's research has led to the natural conclusion that a scope being of apparently identical dimensions on the Boba is the most likely the ASI?

There were several brands of scopes that were all identical, as the last paragraph of the wiki pages says. ASI was one of them, but there still is no proof that ASI was the scope used. It could be any of the identical scopes from other brands.

Yes I thought that was the case. Thanks for clearing it up. Has the consensus been for the ASI for any particular reason such as having been definitely identified on another prop?

In this case I would think ASI was the first of these scopes to be found, and later more brands with identical shape and size was found, but the ASI brand somehow got stuck.

Initially i was looking for about 2 years. Then i got a set from Kurtyboy....but ended up selling them to Gino a few months later cuz he offered me a ridiculous amount of cash for them. Then i was looking for about 4 months? It really was on a whim that i decided to e-mail this guy. im SO glad i did!
