Girth Belt Interest Thread - Still At It! Update:12/15/04

Seeing how we are on another page now, I will post this here as well so we don't have to go back and forth.
Your welcome Webchief. I am bummed it has taken this long but I know you had a deadline.

Ok, Here is an update.
The 36s and 38s have been on backorder from the Mfg. for a while. I talked to them last night for a status update. They said they are slated to come in on Friday of Next week to be shipped to me as soon as they come in.

Now, I know that this does not make it in time for your parade Webchief but I am going to rectify the situation and overnight you the first girth I made to make sure you have it for the parade.

I am sorry it has taken so long everyone but I have no control on the back order situation. The good thing at least is the fact that they are being shipped very soon from the Mfg.

Thanks Ed! I got the girth this morning! Looks awesome!

The 36's are still on back order. I have the 38's and other sizes and will do all of them over the next 2 days. I am working on 2 brown ones tonight and doing the first dip of the red on the others. I really hope the 36's come in soon. I am getting a little miffed!

Ok, I was able to finish up the 2 brown belts and sucessfully dye the ROTJ/ESB girths last night. I am calling the manufactorer to find out the status on the 36 inch girths today but all of the other sizes are going to be ready to ship out within the next 2 days.
Again, thank you for your patients through this supplier issue but the light is soon to shine at the end of the tunnel.

Ok, Status Update:
Just got off the phone with the supplier.
They said the 36's came in yesterday and will be shipping out of the warehouse today so I should have them in the next couple days.

My Girth Belt Findings...

Hey all!

O.K. I'm new here, so bear with me... Not to steal anyone's thunder, but I have some info for anyone who wantes to make an accurate GB themselves. www.nationalbridle.com sells 14 strand english mohair girth belts for $11.95. The caveat, of course, is that they are white, and you must dye them the appropriate marroon yourself.

You can find them cheaper, for around $7.50, but beware, those ones are rayon/poly and will not dye properly.

Again, not to take away from any of the talented folk who make and sell them here (And an exquisite job at that), I'm just the sort that likes to build it myself. That's half the fun.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the heads up Shinobi.
I checked with national bridle and the only size that they carry in the english non slip mohair girths is a 40 inch which tends to be a bit on the large side for most of the people that order them. The supplier I get mine from carries everything from 36-54 inch. Unfortunately the Tack Suppliers tend to get a little lean with their stock during the winter months but I know that they have been telling me they are beginning to beef up their stock in preparation for the summer.

Hey E2K13!

Yeah, I noticed that too, and I've yet to work on it, but I got a 40", which I'm thinking over the jumpsuit shouldn't be too bad. Adjustments might be neccessary. Trial and error! :D

I'll let you know. Again, great work on yours!!!

Let me know your progress man.
Trial and error is definately what gets us to the right colors and styles.
Thanks for the compliment man.

No Prob! That is top notch work.

I've just begun assembling my materials: I got a DP 97 Bucket, the horse belt and a jumpsuit from a worksuit supplier (www.automotiveworkwear.com available in postman blue and slate grey - both need fading) I'm building the armour & Jet Pack from sintra, and having some aluminum parts machined (rocket, darts, knee parts)

I'll start posting pics as soon as I have some to show! I cannot stress what a wealth of knowledge this site is! Thanks a million all!

Ok, I shipped almost all of the girth belts out today. Those that are listed as paid but not shipped yet, can rest easy because your packages will be hitting the mailbox tomorrow morning.
There are 2 that are size 36 that I will be shipping out tomorrow because they are size 36 and need the straps attached.
So rest easy, Its in the mail and has been sent USPS Priority shipping so it should only take a couple days.

I think these will get harder to accuire as the years go on , because they hurt horses so much. I am happy that everything came in, and all is well. A great service for doing this for us Eddie, I know for sure that for the cost of these belts its hardly worth it money wise, so thanks agian! I cant wait.

LOL
I made sure everyone has their girths and forgot to buy one to replace my old one.
I am going to have to order another 38! LOL

Ok Ladies and Gents,

All girths that were in and ordered have now been sucessfully shipped.
I will still continue to make these as usual until there is no more interest.

I got mine today, wow they are soft, I had to adjust the length because it was still to long, I took 2 inches off of each end, I wish I didnt have to but oh well, it looks awesome.
