Gauntlet blueprints

I'm a little new to making things with sintra...so I was wondering what the difference was between that and corex. I was looking for sintra on a few sites on the internet and one had a sign made of corex that was pretty cheap = good for me.

SO...is corex the same thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, GREAT work on the templates so far and I know that they're going to make a LOT of lives a little bit easier when it comes to constructing those gauntlets! (y)

If you can find out if the sign is made from 'pvc foam board' or 'expanded pvc foam' then it is the same as Sintra. Sintra is a brand name only - there are several others that make the same stuff. The stuff I bought was called Komatex, which is just another brand name for the same stuff.

You could alway buy the sign and see if it forms well under heat. Sintra is not the only option. Others use garbage cans or storage containers, which are usually a poly proplyene or similar material.

Kash... I'm not completly up on 'corex' and couldn't say if it were the same as Sintra? But as Jedibrain suggested, 'Sintra' is only a brand name and is called 'Foamex' or 'Foamalux' here in the UK.
Kash, cheers :cheers for the comments... when you come to build yours i'll gladly answer any questions you have? (y)

IMO it doesn´t matter what name it has. Here in Germany it has again other names. Only be sure it´s capable to thermoplastic processing at "low" heat. The most here can be processed at 70 degrees Celsius.

The long wait is over, the Boba Fett Gauntlet templates are complete!!! They have been posted in the first post so that they don’t get lost in the thread.

I am head to Disneyland on the 5th so please be patient as I will be off line for the week and a half. I will get back to everyone that has questions once I get back.

Enjoy!

Alan

THANK YOU MOJO-Fett!!!

WOW! You really don't know how much the templates you make mean to the users. It allows people like me, that can't spend hundreds of dollars on gauntlets, or helmets, or armor, to make it themselves. THANK YOU so much for all that you do. I can't wait to get started!

Way to go Alan. Just when I am about to finish my helmet. Now you have filled my schedule for another year. I keep saying without your help the scratchbuilders would be lost. Thanks again for doing this.

You are amazing. gauntlets were the one thing I was missing. Was trying to buy but kept missing out. I cant wait to get started. I have a week to a costume party and was beginning to think I'd have to go without!

Hey Tazman...
The Rocket launch area is on sheet 1 (Rectangular section) it has many lines for scoring to enable bending. Or use what I did and use a section from a washing up bottle...;)
The other smaller section is missing and I kinda made that part up.. I think I kept the template I made somewhere, I'll dig it out and post.
Be good to see some pics buddy of your gaunt? (y)
