Fett Gauntlets: Pepakura.

man i love these very interesting build. you do great work, i will be contacting you for one of your boushh helmets, I'm working on your RG right now and im loving it. I can't wait for the Gauntlets thanks again

Thanks very much buddy,

I keep saying that I'll have these ready but always disappoint. Sorry guys. I'm trying but there's a lot going on here lately. Plus I realised I need to alter them slightly to split and extand the main tube that fits around the wrist. This is to make them easier to build and to ensue they can be put on when built.

I'll try. ;)

Thanks Mojo! I always do this, I start new projects before others are fully complete. Then I don't know which project to work on! LOL! Fortunately I finished my EpIII Clone helmet yesterday. Though I've still to finish the visor attachment for them. ;)

I have two commission jobs still outstanding too so I'll be needing to spend some time on those too to get them done.

Still, I'm never bored! :D

know the feeling i have five builds going on right now and im always looking for that next one
It wouldnt be a hobby if you didnt form an obsession

Very true! ;)

I've loaded up the Gauntlets now and I'm tweaking the models. Making the changes that they needed.

With some luck, I'll have them finished tonight. Please don't hold me to it, in this house one can never know what's round the corner! LOL!

Hey Skip, these gauntlets are great!

Fantastic to see someone doing this great job unfolding them.

Keep on doing this! (y)

Greetings,
Manuel

Thanks very much! :)

I have a question for those who already have their gauntlets. How long is the part that fits around your arm? From wrist to elbow?

I need this figure to get a decent scale for mine.

The tweaking is done now and I can unfold them later with some luck. This figure will help me get them to your guys sooner. ;)

Got them ready for you guys. ;)

I had to come up with a scale for them since no-one answered my question about sizing. :( I've based the scale on the gauntlet themselves being 19cm long. I can alter this if someone steps forward to help with dimensions??

Anyway, I've only done the A4 version so far but doing a Letter size won't take long. ;)

Sorry it took me this long to finish them guys.

Not at all buddy. It'll be good to see how these look when built up. ;)

For the gauntlet themselves(the tubing) I'd recommend using thick card over cardstock and fibreglassing it. The thicker card will give a better look, or you could use sintra or something similar for that part and then use the cardstock/fibreglass method for the rest?

Either way, all the best!

I hope this day is treating you well?

I've finished the builds. :) All except shaping the lower cuff for both gauntlets. That's just bending them into shape though. The build was really nice, no stress involved or major problems.

Now, I'm not sure, but I think they're a tad small. Not kids size or anything but maybe not full size?? Having never owned a set of gauntlets before I don't have a real world reference here. They do fit my arms though and look Ok so I could be worrying over nothing?

Anyway, here's some pics for you. ;)

Hope they look Ok to you? The filler will fill the small gaps and whatever but overall I'm really happy with them.

I took some pics of them on my arms. Maybe you guys could give me some input? They seem Ok on my arms but look too small when they sitting on the work top???

I don't know, maybe I just expected them to be bigger??

These look awesome skip. Well done. Alans are great, but I had a particular hard time using them to make the gauntlets, as they were a little confusing:)

You ever use Primo PDF?

You can install it, and then go in you rprograms, select print, and set the program as your printer, and it will print them to pdf files, that way people dont need this app, to open these.

You can also watermark or do anything you want to the pdf:)

Cheers mate.
Your coming up with some really awesome stuff here.

As for size, the ESB gauntlets seem to always look a tad smaller to me. The jangos are def' bigger than the esb bobas. The rotj may look bigger because of the big flame box on it, but not sure.

The bottom line is, yours are really close, its all up to your forearm size. If you have big forearms, you may be in trouble. Rememer youll have gloves and sleeves at the wrist, and sleeves at the top, your going to need 1/2 to 3/4 inch clearance on the naked arm.

Ill try building these in sintra, seee how it turns out.

Thanks for the input buddy.

Confusing?? That's probably down to all the glue tabs that come with a Pepakura design. Though for these gauntlets I cut them all off as I laminated the cardstock to thickr 1mm card so the tabs would have messed the fit right up. They went together really well I think.

I have a PDF program similar to the one you described but I don't like PDFs for this kind of thing. With a PDO you have the 3D windw for reference and instruction. Though with PDF you don't have that so I'd need to make notes or instructions for them, plus you couldn't rescale the gauntlets as easily as a PDO. I guess I just prefer it because of my papermodel design background.

Like I said, I dont now much about it. I dont have the program, and havent even loaded it yet. I do know that im goin gto with these, and see if the scratchbuild is as hard as it was my last pair.

Thanks for all your hard work:)

+1

Looking GREAT Skip! Just the right size for my skinny arms too :)
My Uni project is nearing an end now so these will be my next build!

Thanks for the work mate!
