EVA foam armor plates?

has anyone made their armor plates using EVA foam? That is what i'm using, i haven't started painting yet but i've got some pieces cut out and the stuff is pretty easy to work with. I've been watching youtube vids on the stuff and with enough paint is "supposedly" comes out looking shiny.
just wondering if anyone has any tips before i get too deep into my project.

Most people use some sort of plastic, you dont want flimsy armor...polystyrene or abs is the norm some people use sintra but vac formed is what the orginal armor was made from...there is also some fiberglass armor out there too

I'm currently working on a Jango build using primarily EVA foam. If you coat it with a mix of 1:3 water and white glue you can then cover it in a rotor cast resin that is very hard and also sandable. I didn't develop the method but saw it used by James Burton from XRobots on his 2nd iron man build.

Here is a link to the video I saw this method used in.

Ive seen this done and think its pretty awesome. I also saw the Xrobots vid, and this guy on youtube/facebook...i forget his name, he makes mostly medieval and video game type armors. The only thing i see not so great about using this for Fett armor is it will end up being thicker than it needs to be. Fetts armor plates are fairly thin...more like 1/4" maybe even a bit less, so i think using this stuff for Fett will "work", but it will be too bulky....unless perhaps you can thin it out from the back once its coated with resin.

Ya I was thinking that. I'm using 1/4 inch foam for the helmet. If it turns out ok I am going to try the armour in a thinner foam.
