Looks great Michel!

Just FYI: You only need the two shin tools for ROTJ (the larger ones...I forget their names). The other two are optional (which should make room for the bells). Also, it may be better to tuck the pant leg into the boot and then have the spat go overtop.

Keep it up!

Hi all Helmeters,

thanks for the reply Deathproof, for next suitup I'll take care of that.

So got the Animefan coldcast budget helmet, which is awesome. Molded MQ-1 in the back, and easy to work with material. Nice layer and apart from some scratches, cutting the visor out worked perfect. I attached a rod to the bottom for durability and extra strength. The rod is screwed to the helmet mandibles from the inside.

After washing and drying ready to paint

Then the armor from RKD. I already knew his stuff so got for the white parts this time (for lighter basecolor if some deeper use scratches ever become too obvious).
Just need to cut out the jetpack harness parts and also ready to paint.
This image is after trimming and cutting out part for chest display, which took some rather precision work (an hour and a half to be exact)

Advice is welcome.

So this is where I stand so far: completed boots, flightsuit, vest, spats pouches, girth belt, ammo belt, cape, 3 shin tools (Security Tool is almost finished too), knee and shoulder armor, neckseal, gloves, wookiebraids (and not shown balaclava). Most thanks to vendors here from the forum, who are all great artists (RKD, Arkady, MOW) and the loads of info that one can find here. For the guys who are just starting, TDH is the place to be.

Weathered the suit with mix of spray paint, a little rust enamel (Humbrol), and oil stains.

On order: armor, helmet.
Research ongoing (paints, small details), to be done after that: Mitchell brushes, jetpack harness and webbing, and finally jetpack.
Ooooooh and I just read about bells for spurs in the shintool pockets: great idea!

Comments and tips so far are welcome.

You ALMOST look like member TK409 (Chris Barlett)

I think I'm a clone now ;).
some more work on the armor done. sanded, trimmed, sanded again, trimmed again, sanded again, etc.....
Primer grey (Sencys), silver metallic (Sencys), masking (Humbrol purple fluid), mix of Line striping yellow (Sencys) and Brass (Humbrol).
Tried two different greens from Humbrol on two spots, both not to my liking, then I found the Hunt Club Green from Gamma's brand.

So the jachtgroen from Gamma was not the right one I figured out, so hop back to the store, exchanging it for another, which also was not the right one, but the store next to it had (brand is also Sencys), it dries longer, but layers are thicker and stronger. After removing the masking and some weathering, adding the decal and dullcoat final result is this.

Paintpalette for helmet almost finished, caboose for mandibles is not there.
On to attaching armor and placing the chest display

20140817-20-55-10 Cristallo.pngfound the 14 mm out 8 mm in air pressure hoses.
My paint collection for the helmet so far, to be added some more rattlecans.

and the final result of my first paintup after 2 weeks. I know there can be made some improvements on details, but so far I am quite happy how it all turned out. Colors maybe a bit bright cause of the Phone and sun here. Comments and tips are welcome (also to improve my painting techniques for the JP.

Next gauntlets and jetpack.

hi all again,

major progress made. Now just some details and the Jetpack is to be done..

Buttons for the gauntlets ordered@Conrad as well as the red LED.
75 cm of pianohinge @ Gamma
again paint, first primer, then silver, masking, matt black followed by crimson red. some weathering with misted black and all the other razor sanding in between all and finalle the matt coat from Humbrol.
finishing the pianohinges and placing the nozzles, darts and magnets for the bottom part of the flamethrower (to put in tech later on).
The hoses I did not need as much as I thought (of the 4 meter I bought) needed about 2m.
the one on top I will still have to give a little bit of sandy misting, like in ref. pics.

A couple of pics now:
20141012_165743.jpg20141012_170054.jpg20141012_170152.jpg20141012_170218.jpg20141012_170435.jpg

Honestly I thought the helmet would be the toughest, but these things are at least as tough because of the construction/size does matter here. I want a perfect fit for trooping.

I started on the jet pack now... with a 3D rocket from toolguy301.

Some more work done... but first I had to test if everything works walking around.Harness made with Toolguy's 3D printed set and a separate aluminum bar bought at the local hardwarestore, and straps scrounged from leftovers... It fits really well and comfortable and does not weigh much.
20141102_141555.jpg
After I wore the kit the first day, in a lot of light it showed that I need to weather the suit, spats and pouches a lot more...so here go the spats.
20141102_163409.jpg
But wearing the costume puts a big smile on the face, even though you dont see it.
At FACTS in Belgium was the first time with 3 hours suited up. The JP still is in progress but I could not wait as my lady was with me.
Did you know Boba had a love going with Mara Jade (could be in the new canon);)?

I got the thrusters and rocket from Toolguy as well, they are sturdy and the rocket fits perfectly into the JP. Before paint:

Looking really good man! Making some headway now....you'll be done in no time. Well, not done, but wearable.
One thing that stood out though was the upper cheek color. Looks black in the pic. Should be green with some blue to it. Nice looking though anyway!

Hi. Its tamiya xf-17, which is used more often here a darkish green/blue hue. If I hold it next to ref. Pics dont see a difference. Pic is inside with flash so color stand out harder than they are.. thanks for the comment. I love to work on it.

The Original color was waaaay to light. So with leather dye I revisited the belt and here's 2.0. Also weathered the pouches with greay/black smear and grey and sandy colors.
20141226_102622.jpg

On to sanding the jetpack today and do some more weathering here and there... Too bad it's to cold to paint now. brrrr

Final update before suiting up (I think). Jetpack is scratchbuilt with some parts from Toolguy301. The templates of Rafalfett used as a base, resized and printed on A3 (got the PDFs still).
Wood, cardboard, glue, bondo, pvc pipes of 2 sizes, and lots of sandpaper to be used.

20150111_134832.jpg
Paints in order: primer, silver, white, yellow/squash, WWI blue and red, then small details.

Before (left) and after the coat (right).

Testfit. do need to adjust the harness a little bit to keep it from sagging my throat.

My solution for attaching the thrusters: magnets. Easy to mount and take off, no harm done when they come off (and they stick extremely well).
Thanks for all your build threads, they helped out a lot. Building this took months:rolleyes
Please tell me what you think.

Are you supposed to use clamps on the two side hoses for the right gauntlet?

Hi. No and on some shots and tours the top hose is taped to the gaunt with black but I am not sure if that is rotj SE or Rotj. Hoses also ended up shorter finally. They were sticking out too much

So after first series of pics of a week ago, some small changes were made, suit even dirtier, shoulder bells a little higher on same heigt as chest armour. Lightend up the ammobelt a little bit again and positioned that, the girthbelt and the codpiece a bit higher around the waist, and the helmet a bit closer to my torso, and after the 2nd series of pics got the happy email of the 501st approval. BH 23474 is my TKID.
Of course I will keep it current and update it with some things.
metal toe spikes instead of 3D printed ones, figure out some improvement on thruster attachment, voice amp and other small things, lights etc.
