General Counterweight's ROTJ build

Slowly adding minor details to the gauntlets. They're almost done

Got in my shapeways shipment finally. Gauntlet darts and dental expander

Got the darts painted silver and hotglued in. I think they might be slightly too high off the gauntlet but I like the look so I'm gonna keep it

Got the dental expander drilled out, assembled, painted, and attached

So this is where I'm at aesthetically

Also used a dremel and pliers to shape that extra length of micro pvc.

Filled the inner part, carved out the cross shape, then painted, and attached

Not terrible

I need to figure out how to attach the hoses to the whipcord tubes, but I'm not prioritizing that right now. Aside from that, my right one is done!

Since my next step is to attach the two halves of the left gauntlet, I cut out my notches now. One in the side of the flamethrower, one in the top of the gaunt

Learning from the other gauntlet, I decided to put the magnets in before the hinges

I tested them and they seem like they're be slightly too weak, so I might have to add more magnets or figure out a different system to keep it closed.

All I have left is to finish that and then install hinges.

I'll be getting the flamethrower emitters soon (they're being shipped). Then eventually I need a gauntlet rocket, and to put in the flashing LED/toggle switch and the two momentary switches

Once I have the hinges on I will be ready to move on to the armor and I'll put the finishing touches on the gauntlet as I'm able to.

Magnets were indeed too weak because I'm having to utilize the sides of the magnets instead of the flat surface

Then I put on the hinges, it leaves a slight separation in the upper and lower half, but I'm okay with it

Some paint helps it blend

Also decided to add a small amount of Velcro to both gaunts to help them stay closed. Between the Velcro and magnets those bad boys should stay on

Hey, pretty cool!

So here is where I am as of now. Gaunts missing a couple bells and whistles, but overall pretty much done

I have the flamethrower emitters, just need the tubes. Also need to install the LED and switch, as well as the momentary switches and gauntlet rocket.

Wore what I have around just a little in order to test the electronics and just because I think it's cool, already had some mishaps.

Broke the end off of a gauntlet dart. I have a feeling this won't be the last time that happens. Hopefully it's an easy fix. Eventually I'll invest in metal ones

The lower whipcord tube fell off. That one will definitely be an easy fix... as soon as I'm able to find the tube

That aside, I'm gonna wear them out tonight when I take my daughter trick or treating and see how they hold up. Luckily I haven't attached the tubes that go up the sleeve yet so they won't have that constant stress.

Looking good. I would bolt that lower tube through the housing on the whip cord right into that other tube, never come off (y)

Agreed. Good idea

I found the tube thankfully!

Don't have any bolts right now so I hotglued it on and I'll bolt it down later.

I tried to hot glue the dart that broke off but it wasn't working so I used wood glue and held it until it set. Now it's solid

Got the helmet finished too

Next up I'll start the armor. I plan to put the "bells and whistles" on the left gauntlet periodically when time and money allow for it.

Progress has been slow, mostly because I can't find the trash cans I need at any store.
But I was able to get the flashing LED and momentary switches on the left gauntlet

Yeah the hot glue is a little sloppy but being that all this is on the inside of the gaunt, I'm worried about function more than fashion

The momentary switches aren't currently connected to anything, but that can easily be changed in the future if necessary.

Looking better. Still need the gauntlet rocket. Also need to figure out how to make the shafts for the flamethrower
