Attaching Wookie braids

Hi all. This might be a stupid question but what is the correct way to attach the Wookie Braids to the suit?:wackoThanks for your help,Jeff

In this picture I used a safety pin. You could use individual safety pins for each braid or one large one.

In this picture I used some of the sinew, however you could you a thick thread or even fishing line to tie the braids together.

These are just a couple of the ways you can attach the braids.

Thanks Julie for your help.I didn't know if they used something special to hold them around the arm like I have seen in different pictures.Again thanks,Jeff

Thanks much, if it weren't for this thread I would've never thought to use a safety pin. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure it out.

RESURRECTION! LOL!

i actually use a zip tie through 2 small holes in the vest. I found the safety pin would eventually pop open sometimes and poke me or someone else.

I made my braids but I was just thinking to tie them together and run excess string under the collar armor and attach it to the bolt that secures one of the metal stud things.

Didn't want to put holes in my vest and I wanted to take them off easy if need be. Some people sew theirs on to the vest as well if that helps.

Someone else? What are you doing in your costume Lou ? LOL!

LOL..well some people like to put their arm around you like animals and shake ya around a bit when they take pictures..im sure ya know the type ...and once one of them got poked with the safety pin lol..they kind deserved it being all aggressive like that, but in their minds you ARE an actual bounty hunter wearing REAL armor...i guess i pulled it off well lol

I have one of those large safety pins (I think they're for baby diapers or something) ran from underneath the vest, with the part coming out the top run through the inside of my braids so you don't even see it.

Just one zip tie? And do the two holes stretch over time from moving around?

Technically 2 and ive had em like that since 2009, never had a problem with it at all. I have one around the braids (clear one)to hold them together and then one that goes through the bottom of that one and through the vest.

Hey, I'm having trouble finding a good picture of how these braids are oriented. Which are folded and what side the tails are on sort of thing. This is for ESB.

I am curious, anyone have photos of them sewed on? Or other attachment methods? The visual would be appreciated. Always looking for better ways.

JedIinTraining I used Darth Voorhess's idea of using zip-ties, but I opted for wire twine. Initially, I only used one piece in the middle, but needed to add an extra one towards the front to keep the braids from flapping around too much. I would suggest using the plastic twine that you would find in toy packages, that worked really well for me. The wire twine I used end up fraying at the tips and would catch and pull the wookie hair. But the idea worked out great in holding the braids. Hope this visual helps:
