General alexrep's Super Trooper Thread! ~WIP~

New Hunter
Hey there, figured I'd get a progress thread going on the Supertrooper I hope to (one day) have finished to troop with 501st and the Mandalorian Mercs!
I already have this started over on the Teren Clan page, but figured i'd xpost it over here for publicity sake, and to maybe help out anyone else pursuing a fett that scratches way too easily and can NEVER eat spaghetti.

First thing I ended up doing was printing out files for the Sling Gun, they're excellent and made by Rafi over on TDH, here they are with a bit of sanding and priming out of the way already

More sanding, more painting.

I have since made the silver on the barrel look a lot less streaky.
After some shopping around and looking at various offerings around the interwebs I stumbled across an eBay auction for a cold-cast GMH helmet, so I jumped on it and ended up winning it!

It's a very pretty piece and has all of the calculator details built into it, saving some time and money.
I committed some sacrilege by bondo'ing in the Dent, im so sorry.

After that I did some more wet-sanding, and then went on to apply primer, sand that down (took forever), then applied my white-enamel paint with clear-coat!

Some more progress down on the helmet, still missing a visor, but I got the turn signales painted, borden connector painted, and put some foam in (with velcro) so the helmet is now wearable.

The very beginning of the printed parts of the Jetpack, took 7 hours at 0.3mm resolution

And here's a picture of the miscellaneous stuff I have so far, all of the ST Shin tools, Gaunlet Rocket, and the Sling Gun (as well as a scout trooper blaster I made up for my friend).

I noticed that the ST Gauntlet Flamethrower was unique to one used in any other movie, so i designed and printed one. it's about 1' long.

Ordered a Visor off eBay, so for now the helmet is done!

Printed the top of the left gauntlet, and I got some dental expanders and the MQ-1 keyboard from Utri!

Big mail day, lots of work to share!
got my MoW Flight suit, Gloves, and Belt today, as well as an ESB cape, ESB jumpsuit, gauntlet rocket and full set of armor (painted for ESB fett)!

Here's a pic of my right gauntlet with hinges attached and all

Left gauntlet on me (realized hinges were far too close together, very hard to get hand into, also all of the tubing was too long so I cut it down pretty heavily)
msl.png

A few of my Jetpack pieces are finished as well

If anyone has any tips, tricks, comments, ideas, please share!

Got around to bondo'ing in all of the holes in the armor, and did a test fitting with what I had done so far!

It doesnt look too shabby!

Looking sharp. As per the gun, brush painted silver seldom looks good. You'd get a nicer finish if you had taped it off and used spray paint. A sealer or gloss coat help it stay looking good.
Silver will show every scrape if you don't protect it.

Yeah, I went over it a bit more so it does look a lot better than the picture now, I think if youre going for a certain brushed look it can be good, but otherwise it can be pretty lame. Ive had bad luck with silver/chromed spray paints before, especially chromes, all the ones i've tried start out with a nice finish but wear down to just being an ugly silver after handling it a bit.

Very happy with how everything is coming together. I trooped with Teren last weekend, got a few good pics in kit too!

Next day I did some changes and added some more accurate bits, including the white cod band!

Changed the armor mounting method from the horrible velcro to tried and tested snaps, oh boy do i love snaps!

Moving forward I have a couple details to add on the left gauntlet (missing a black piece and a momentary switch), the gauntlet darts on the right gauntlet, switches on the right gauntlet and the white little oval bit as well. I have a cape to make in the style of ESB but white-grey-white, finish the jetpack, add some knee darts, and add the ammo belt to the back of my leather pouch belt!

hi great work..where did you find the boots?
Boots I got from a seller on eBay, and I plastidipped them white. I believe latex-based paints would yield better results... the plastidipping has cracked over time, as well MoW sells white ST boots on eBay, but they're $250, sooo....
