Help with the boots

After 2 complete attempts at weathering these things I feel I am getting no closer to finishing than when I started. I don't know what I'm missing (spikes I know) but something just does not jive with me. So I figured I'd pour my heart out to the masses here and hope for the best.

make them a bit more lighter grey and brown at the hight of the elastique strap... maybe make the sools just a wee bit more yellow like... but those are just stupid suggestions... as I think these look awesome!!! :cheers

Josh, I weathered mine with some earth tones to simulate dirt. That does the trick IMO.

I heard you can use hairspray on them, then dust the wet area with dirt and stuff. When you shake off the loose stuff, the weathered effect is nice. I've never done this myself. They look great like they are!
