Star Wars Costume Exhibit: Zam???

Got back last night from the exhibit! It was just fantastic! Loved seeing all those costumes and even better seeing it with some good friends! ZIA - what can I say - you were the hit of the exhibit in your costume! One of the directors of the museum wanted her picture and even let her sit up in that X-Wing! :D

The funniest thing that happened during our trip... I cannot talk about! ;) I'm sworn to secrecy! Though the next best thing was that when ZIA went to change out of costume. She's wearing jeans, her TDH shirt (of course) and Zam shoes! Because she forgot to bring her regular shoes! :D  :D

Foxbatkllr: I tried to get pics - but dang that was dark in there! Another friend took some pics in infrared or nightvision or somethingl like that, which came out detailed - if not color accurate. I'll pm you regarding the pics later today!

Just got back, whew! talk about COSTUME overload!!! I am sooo wanting a second day! If anyone has night vision on their camera, you totally have to get pics of the gauntlets on the under side where there is a cigar looking thing on the right zam gaunt. I had so much fun. Maul maus you are so cool. She had everything covered. I totally forgot 3/4ths of the stuff I was thinking about getting, cause I was so inandated by the security gaurds asking "how long did it take you to make yours?" and star wars shop people about taking pics of me in my costume. I was thinking, "let me get back to picture taking, PLEASE, wearing this was for reference shots!" Well, we did get to get into the x-wing, that was way cool- I wouldn't have been able to do that outta costume. But, I forgot to do the skirt comparison, the shoe comparison, etc. By the way, there is no WAY the spike is 3 inches long. It is definately 1 1/2" max @ 2" and bone looking rather than rubnbuff on the paint scheme. Our pantone color for the neoprene is a little more vivid than real costume. A lot of her stuff is a more faded/washed out looking. I referenced all my colors to the standee rather than the MOM pics. The standee had to be color enhanced or the hero suit. I might let my suit stay out in the sun one day to bleach the look a little ?? Couldn't get a lot of the shots we wanted cause of the angle she was at. Dallas-- it's up to you- dude, especially when you get there in November. You going for FAN day?

I'm absolutely proud you made it out safe to Cali and got what you came for Yvonne!

I'm still urked I couldn't make it out to that meetup, but all the same I glad you had a great time and it really went better than you expected for you and the other Zammers. :D

I look forward to the pics and it sounds like there is still plenty left to do Zam wise, keep up the good fight ZIA!

Take care!

Sounds like you were a hit at FIDM ZAM! I wish I could have made it out as well. Why can't they turn the lights up a bit in there really. So many details are lost to us. I would think that her costume is just faded rather than your fabric being too vibrant, just like you said. Because the Fett is definatly faded from time. I don't know if the sun will fade it out enough. You might try a bleach wash. I know that is a scary thought.
Have you seen the pic of Zam in the Dressing the Galaxy Book? Great action shot, you can see all the squares of her skirt, very cool!
Which by the way I'm a bit ticked about... where the heck is Fett, cept for the tiny little pics in the corner, no offense to Jango but he got a full page??? What gives huh?

When is fan Day in November by the way?
I'd like to take my kids in their costumes, I'm working on a AOTC Battle for my 5 year old and an Anakin ROTS, and of course my Fett if I can get myself some time to work on my stuff.

Yep... finally got my Dressing a Galaxy book - and Zam looks more purple than she did at the exhibit! :/ So is the hero costume more purple or is the exhibit more washed out? Or did they simply overdo it in Photoshop for the book?

I've got some of the fabric that I can experiment with - it's at the end of the roll and was where two pieces were sewn together so it's useless for the costume itself! :( I'm gonna cut a piece and stick it out in the Arizona sun for a few days, see if it helps (though summer would've been better!) and I'll try your recommendation of a bleach wash... Otherwise, guess we simply base the whole costume on the color of fabric we have.

Oh, and the reason why Boba didn't have a page, is because Trisha Biggar didn't design Boba - though I think they could've given him a bigger pic!

Maulmaus! You outted me! :LOL ;) Thanks for not talking about the slow computer scenario! ;) By the way, make sure that when any of you guys decide to go, If your cameras can do night vision, then make sure to switch it on when you get to the darkside room. I should have gotten Scott to take some of the shadowed shots of Zam. Oh well. But man o man, it was great. I got sick afterwards, but slowly getting better. Haha, I even ran into someone who was a coworker of Shane Felix-director of Revelations, on the plane, it was hilarious. I havent yet had a chance to see how some of my shots came out. I wanted to do a ref cd, but it would be better if I waited until the exhibit is over, that way, if anyone else sends me pix of stuff I didn't get, then I could put it onto that cd. Haven't gotten my book yet. Apparently, they only have SOME of the actual fabric swatches in each book. I pray dear Lawd, that I get the one with the Zam swatch. Someone even stole the one out of the sample book at the FIDM exhibit! I saw the staple marks. Sheesh! By the way, for fan day- email mblack@fidm.edu- he's the museum coordinator. They had one in Oct already, and setting up another one.

I'd been hunting for photos and saw that benaequee's Runway show photos were mentioned. But her album never had the Zam photos added. A Quick message to my costuming and props friend and she has now added the Zam runway photos to her album!

She has some nice photos of the back and the skirt. I never realized that the entire skirt was double laced! (I don't have my Zam standee yet or a disc of reference photos).

Make sure you click on the option at the bottom for "original" to see the highest res size.

Yes, let me talk to her. She didn't have a problem letting Maggie at Padawan's Guide have the high res Padme photos. So maybe we can work something out :)

...JAW DROPS! After all these years... we get to see the back of the gauntlet in hi-rez... : sniffling... the baby is all exposed! It's just so freaking beautiful. I just wanna cry...

I know, it is a shame she 'forgot' to upload the Zam photos last year! Kris comes to my rescue again. I relied heavily on her photos for my last SW costume. Her runway photos are the only good reference we had for the blue Padme Family Gown.

I think it is interesting how much color has come off of the vest and gloves over the few short years. It makes me wonder if some advise posted in this forum on how NOT to color the vest was what the costume department did? It may have been TheWookie that warned not use dyes over something that has already been colored. It won't stay on. The color just seems to have nearly totally rubbed off of the white leather :(

She's going to unlock them for a short time. So if anyone is interested, you might check around now (Tuesday evening). She just doesn't want people reposting them as their own!

Thanks so much Kay Dee for pointing us over to Benaequee's website! Thanks to her for sharing! Awesome Pics! (I remember seeing the others before, soon after the event and was amazed with the costumes then!) I wished I could've been there to see it myself - must've been fantastic!

*hands ZIA a kleenex* Yep... think I'm gonna cry with you! ;)

Also, can someone PM me with a way to contact benaequee? I'd like to talk to her about getting permission to include these pictures on the Zam reference CD. I think they'd be a great addition!
