01Hawk Active Hunter Mar 20, 2016 #2 I use magnets but I am pretty careful with how I maneuver. For someone that age ( and even myself in the future).. Snaps or binding posts/Chicago screws would be the safest bet. Velcro can work to but may make some noise during extreme movements

This (http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/...mounting-wickedbeard-armor-parts-1-2-a-35485/) is the method I use which is secure but if you happen to snap a bolt it's a PITA to remove the plate and fix. For a 12 year old I think I'd opt for velcro.

paucarmelbea Hunter Mar 21, 2016 #4 ive done magnets, but scrapped it after a while because it just became too annoying....went with heavy duty velcro and i'm much happier
