ESB Colours -

I've been fortunate enough (or lazy enough) to have other people to paint my armour for me but I've ordered a set of Bobamakers Gauntlets and I thought I'd have a go myself. So I'm wondering is there a suggested list of Colours to use?
Is there any difference in brands or colours I should consider when buying them in the UK?
