Once I got the ears off, I just trimmed down the excess with my dremel. You could probably use a hobby knife or a small saw too. The hardest part was actually getting the ears off. They're on there pretty good.

Good thing my bucket's left ear cap accidentally fell off. LOL. problem now is how to take the other ear piece off. thanks! Would definitely be looking back to these post/pics for reference. Great job and thanks a lot!
