Getting back to this slowly. I'm nearly done with some responsibilities but I'd like to get this back in motion. I've already ordered coveralls to re-make the flightsuit and start over there.

I'm also in the process of acquiring new employment but will be moving. I'd like to get what I can done while I'm still here.

I'm thinking of getting back to the armor and starting work on the jetpack (to get all the pieces mountable, ready for paint.

Standby...

Gland to see you starting this up again.

Your build has started me looking at the cold cast parts a lot more as I'm liking the raw metal look. which inspired me to order my bucket from animefan, but it appears NME Props dose not do the cold cast jump packs any longer. least its not mention on their site.
Good luck with the build hope to see more soon.

Look in the cargo hold here. They still offer them. Delayed they said, but still in work.

Thanks man. Yea the cold cast is the way to go IMO. Cost a bit more but I feel it looks much more realistic.

I'm not sure if NME is still making them but as Syllander pointed out, I guess they're just backed up. I know it took them a minute to get my pack produced since it was the first CC they did, not to mention that he polished the entire thing too

Alright, got the dickies coveralls in.

It's still too light in color, but not too worry. I want to add the details/modify it before I go about darkening it up with some dye. Fits really well too!

I've seen so many people talk about doing a Montross kit over the last 8 years, but I have yet to actually see one completed. That means it's up to you to be the first one...no pressure! =)

Oy, yea..no pressure...how about that Darktrooper though? lol

Na, Lee is honestly a bit closer to finishing this than I am. I had lost momentum due to several issues, but being on the verge of a pending move plus fulfilling other obligations is distracting me.

I am looking to get started on the jetpack, and fabricate the opposing side pectoral piece. I'd really like to get those guys finished so I can get some molds made.

I am looking to acquire a backplate shortly (cruzer) to see if it'll work out for me. I know for a fact that once everything is worn, you won't really be able to even see it, but for the sake of approval going smoothly, I'd like to give this a shot. Last resort, make my own backplate from scratch.

I did find a local near where I work who may be able to properly tailor my flak vest too, which will be a HUGE help.

Started to work on the Jetpack yesterday. Hadn't decided on a whole lot of how I wanted to go about tackling it but I can say it's not really that difficult now. The guys at NME send this kit out really nice and clean. No clean up required at all which saves a lot of time. The most challenging thing honestly is getting the rocket mounted, which was something I wasn't too sure of, but a fellow prop builder gave a good idea. I'll cover that as I get to it. Essentially, I don't want to use adhesives when i don't need to, specifically for this build. As I did for my helmet's ear caps and visor, mounting them with bolts is a clean method and I don't have to stress about the (Florida) heat getting to it. Plus, I like to be able to remove pieces if I need to and not have to flight or risk breaking pieces in the process if I can help it.

So, the kit as it comes, the thrusters, top and bottom "cone" caps, rocket and a few other greeblies are all separate. The thrusters and caps will be held together with bolts w/ wing nuts.

I first cut the "panel" out of the back per the lines. I decided to cut the whole thing out for the biggest reason being that I can effectively reach into the corner areas (thrusters/cones) despite my large hands. I'm debating if I really want to convert the cut out panel into an actual "door" though as when I'll be wearing this (with the cape especially) you won't be able to see it at all.

Should have taken this pic a little later as I finished this later on after taking it, but I started with the lower cone-caps which are now done and holding onto the pack quite well. You'll see the bottom vent is in place (not permanent yet) as I cut a hole into the jetpack body.

This will be a rather quick build. I can get it done by the weekend.

Getting there. All the cap-pieces are secured, the thruster nozzles are as well. Just the rocket really, then the greeblies are left.

Ok, the jetpack is technically finished being painted. Not really much for this. The paint scheme is based off of the hasbro figure, which is really the only source of reference for this, so can't really argue there.

So yea, following the figure, it uses the same blue as the helmet, so I used again for this (the same color for jango) Testor's French Blue. Came out really nice I think. Just gotta finish assembling the rest of the pieces, then I can weather it. I'm thinking I'm going to go really dirty with the weathering though....

Yea I know, it's nice and shiny. I'm not exactly going to be taking a sander to the thing. What I think will look cool is the fact that it is still shiny, but adding the grime will make a great and stark contrast in a good way.

Great looking pack Chris! Did you decide to panel out the door to be functioning?
I have an older bobamaker pack that doesn't have any back up pieces for the door, so I would have to do the same thing. And the same thought went thru my head when looking at it. Who's gonna be able to see this side of it? And it would be pretty easy to toss the keys and phone in there and easy to get to them later without having to remove screws from the panel.

Yea I am holding onto the cut-panel piece I removed just in case I change my mind with it, but yea, you're right about actually using it for storage if needed at events and such. I'm going to leave it open for now, but if it is an issue where it can be seen when wearing it, then yea, I'll throw some strapping or make a simple mechanism to hold in.

Alright, here she is all assembled. Last things I need to do is weather and add the buckles to make it wearable. Think it came out pretty good. The beacon and stabilizer are on threaded bolts as well. The piano keys were a pain in the butt cause they weren't all 100% identical in size so I started by attaching the "control" pieces per MoM reference of the ESB Fett pack and eyeballed the rest of them as best as I could. So, the only pieces on this pack relying on adhesive is strictly the piano keys!

I know it's been a hot minute since I made an update with this. I've been really focused on some other obligations at the moment. I *did* get in a cold-cast back plate (one of Cruzers) and surprisingly seems that it will fit. While the back plate isn't necessary for Merc approval, I have to take into consideration that the 501st approval won't let that slide, so I opted to get it anyways.

2nd item, which I got along with the backplate, is one of the more rare sets, a Marrow Sun interior kit, based off the Ridell mini-helmets. This was BKBT's set, painted by MS in a Jango Fett them. I don't think I'll be using this for my Montross for multiple reasons, mainly the fact that I have already constructed my helmet, and I'd have to modify it to allow these pieces to fit. The 2nd being that it's actually fairly large. I am thinking of re-fininishing my original BKBT jango lid as it should, including this in there and making the entire helmet a display piece.

As for the project right now, I did find a local leather worker who can do some tailoring of my flak vest(s), just need to find the time to go down there and get it going..

Wanted to add that I started weathering the jetpack
