Actually that is exactly why I asked. . I want to make stencils/masks with the decals and not keep them on the finished bucket. .. my brush skills are not the best
It is so cool to watch these bad boys come to life. I look at my AFFO$ painted ASOK CC every day and gush over how much I love it. It is the pride of my collection!
Got her finished! Well, 99% finished. I'm putting the hash marks on the RF Earcap right now and letting the J B Weld set before I install the visor. After I get the hash marks on, I will apply the dark tan paint splatter and she will be ready to ship! Thanks again for your patience and for giving me the opportunity to paint the helmet!
Hey AFettfull, I think you said that it was a CC helmet. You painted the whole thing though correct? Is it possible to use the cold cast metal look for some of the damage/weathering?
jsncarter-Yes, if you wanted to paint it in a 'layered' paint scheme you can. I paint mine topically so I primer the whole thing and put the base colors down first.

For the ROTJ, I painted a model master enamel grey over the right ear cap, then simply sanded and mildly wore off the paint. I pretty much kept the left ear raw CC (With some mild black wash for mild weathering.)
The CC is really amazing. A dremel and a steel-cup polish wheel really makes it look like a brushed aluminum.
ALSO- not to thread jack Fully-- This is a great paint job...
