I had one of these until very recently and was very happy with it for the duration of my five or six year ownership. Even despite the pinch it's still a great piece. For those that are wondering this is fibreglass and wearable although I doubt it could be trooped in; the lined finish is extremely nice in a collectors piece.

Also of note is the fact that, as far as I know, this 'ESB' helmet was actually based on the PP3 helmet. My understanding is that when MR went to the Lucasfilm archive they picked up the PP3 by mistake instead of the ESB Hero. The two helmets are very similar in the paintup and so I can see how it would be possible to mistake the two. If one compares this item to the PP3 in the gallery (particularly the pics on page 2 that seem to be from the MR measure up for this item) then it can be seen that actually those back panels are actually pretty close to the greyish hue that the PP3 features as opposed to the more blue tinge on the ESB hero. It also seems to me that based on those gallery pictures that the PP3 does seem to feature somewhat of a visor pinch. I'm no PP3 expert but the paintup on the MR definitely seems to bear more in common with the PP3 than the ESB hero even accepting that the two paintjobs are very similar in and of themselves. Perhaps someone more knowledgable than me can chime in with further information.

Either way it's a great piece and I'm sure you're enjoying it a great deal. Congrats dude.

Live the dream.

Thanks for all the replies- makes owning the piece more interesting hearing the discussions that ensue. All in all I am very satisfied with this helmet and it a great representation for what it is. I collect a lot of stuff and most of it isn't 100% movie accurate. I usually strive for higher end pieces that successfully capture the essence of what is portrayed on the screen, even if certain details aren't exactly the same.

I think Master Replicas did a fine job even though they didn't get the right one (which is kind of funny in a way), and I am very happy with this helmet!

After looking at this AND the gallery pics of the PP3( which this was definitely a mock up of) I believe I actually like this paint up better on this version than the actual ESB paint job......who'd a thunk it?

One of the most interesting things about this helmet is that it was designed with the intention of being a definitive edition, but they definitely came up short in several ways, all of which have been documented quite well.

At the end of the day, it still looks pretty awesome, despite its imperfections and to the average person who sees it they know what it is immediately. I'm sure I will keep my eyes peeled for other, more accurate replicas in the future, but for now this is better than any other prop replica I have yet to own that is Star Wars related!
