It was Star Wars night at Dodger stadium last Friday night and I had the opportunity to throw the first pitch as Boba Fett. I found out at around 1PM that day and I hadn't thrown a baseball since middle school, so I was a little nervous. It was a sold out crowd, but fortunately first pitch is pretty early on and everyone is still streaming in.
We did photo ops on the field for a bit and were able to mingle with the front rows, and then it came time to handle business. I was escorted by a pair of my fellow TK's to the mound and walking out I couldn't quite hear everything the announcer was saying due to my fans, but I did hear something about "one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy" and "all the way from Kamino..." and I was thinking "Easy buddy I'm already seeing the laughs on TDH pile up..." I get to the mound, check the distance with my range finder for a laugh and pitched. I was a little left and short, but I still made it to the dirt with a couple smaller bounces. I suppose the hardest part was getting the rotation with the vest and shoulder armor.
The crowd gave a sigh, but my buddy Bryan in TK came over from the side of the mound and gave me a support hug, and that got a bigger laugh, so I felt like we had saved it a little bit.
We went on for an amazing troop making the rounds for a bit from ground level to posh VIP boxes to meet with fans. Suited down, we enjoyed the Dodgers beat the Padres 9-2. In fact after the Padres had given up a number of runs in succession, I yelled "Send Boba back in replace that pitcher!"
Great times. I love what we get to do. I'm a newer Fett and always upgrading and tweaking. I hope I made you guys proud.
