Painting Tips for ESB Armor

Hi, I have finished making my armor for my ESB suit. I'm in the process of applying liquid mask to the parts of the armor that need to show exposed worn metal.

Can someone please help me with how and what color to use to paint all of the armor pieces? I may have access to a friends air brush in the event I do not should I hand paint the armor pieces or use a spray can? What colors of paint should I use? Can I pick up these paints at a local hobby shop? Thanks for reading.
