Looking for tips.

My brother got me a NME Props Stalker helmet, and I got him one of the assassin ones for xmas.

Now what we need is some tips on how to paint this stuff so it doesn't look like a garage spray can nightmare.

Any tips on techniques/paints/primer that you guys can share?
