Morning Fetties! Update time, and a couple of new areas to share. First up, is my progress to this stage on the interior. The interior has been really fun to work on, and I’m happy with it so far – it’s a faithful rendition in my eyes of the real ESB lid, and while I still have a few little additions and changes to make, it’s about 95% done. The 6 point suspension system will be altered slightly, with some thinner strap to be added which is getting sewn up for me as we speak, and will look a lot more in line with the original. The thicker strap that appears in these photos was the test straps. Also, the visor will be inserted, and I have a couple of extra screws to add in for accuracy. Pic 2 simply shows the chin strap added in – it’s not the exact chin cup used, but when you find it on an old cricket helmet in cash converters for $4 all up, I think it works out fairly smartly. So all in all, pretty happy with the interior section.
The next 2 photos show what I now call weathering phase 4 – The very excellent Raf noticed some extra marks on the back panels which I added in, as well as adding the darker oliv-ey green sections on the back panels. That darn Raf finding new stuff for me to always add in (
wink wink)- nah, its honestly great stuff by him, and the addittions are awesome for the accuracy stakes. I understand on the back panels, that I have added in a couple of extra scratches from AOSW that Raf didn’t include on his hero stencils – that was simply a case of me completing the back panels before rafs revised stencils were up. It’s only a couple odd scratches tho, and happy with my back panels, so not going to lose any sleep over it, and will likely only mess it up if I try to cover them up, so more than happy with them how they are...
The other small addition was doing the new light grey (147) areas that I discussed with raf. If you look at the first back picture, you can sight some of this light grey among the silver in the top right corner of the trim. There was also a few minor touch ups all round. RF stalk to be weathered next, as well as finalising the interior. In the process of ordering a hollow RF and working light set to add down the track, which should finish it all off nicely. Hope you enjoy peeps, keep any feedback coming, peace
