Clonecollector's FP Helmet Paintup... Update 4/21/10... This baby's almost finished!

Well-Known Hunter
This is my new FP Helmet! Thanks so much Chris!

I'm using the layered methed. Thanks to Terminalfettler (for his inspiration), AFFO$ (for his rattlecan paint list) and Rich D. (for his templates).

The ears are finished. I did them completelt layered as well. I used Lucksy's decals right on top of the cold cast ears and weathered them from there. I bolted the ears on by the way.

I primed the helmet first with gray primer. Then I used a light gray rattlecan paint as the base metal. Next came the silver and a dark gray over that.

Here are the first group of shots.

The other helmet on my wall unit is a Ruby's 2pc Jango helmet I painted up for my son in "Open Seasons" scheme. I have them together for now. :)

Here's the next phase of my paintup... fewer pics here so no messing up the order like in my first post!

I added the next layer... the green to the lower cheeks and dome. I also gave it a light misting with flat black buffed with "000" steel wool. Let me know what you think!

Here's the next step to my paintup...

I did the upper cheeks in black with some green weathering. The masking tape I used pulled off some paint in the lower right cheek so I will have to fix that.

Here is the almost completed back. There are a few more touch ups I need to make according to Rich D.'s templated. I will do that a bit later.

One more update for today fellas...

the purple layer underneath the red on the mandibles. I used purple and then I misted it with some maroon (claret wine)

:DNew update guys!... I didn't see anyone post any criticisms but I know things need to be done on this helmet. I was thinking of doing the dome and lower cheeks in a similar green again (a bit darker) I think I went a little crazy with the steel wool pad and you can see ai made some spots lighter than others. But maybe it looks more realistic that way? Anyway... I also see the back is a little too blue. I may need to go more green. ( I do have some issues with seeing reds/ greens... I swore Boba's helmet was bluer in the back!)

Well... here's the red layer on the mandibles and back. I stuck the ears and visor on to see what its going to look like. Next week I'll work on the killstripes. After touching up the spots mentioned above I think I'll call this project done for now. Thanks for looking!:D

I agree with what you just said...the back could be a bit greener than it is...It looks navy blue really...But in the last post it has the right shading. I dont know why that is maybe no flash? As for the dome and cheeks it apears to light maybe somewhere between where it is now and the left ear...keep up the good work the stencil work is great!

Hey guys!

Well I'm almost done with this helmet. I added the killstripes and some weathering around the dent. That was easy... but I had to darken my helmet a bit so I found a darker green rattlecan and remasked the dome and cheeks.

I also realized the back was too blue... so I remasked that and made it a little greener. That was a tough one.

I will have to do a little more waethering. I will do that sparingly because I don't think I could get it that exact... well sometimes less is more right?

Let me know what you think. Thank you!
