I probably should have said something about this when we modified the name.
As of 12/1/2008, TDH applied for an LLC (Limited Liability Company). The paperwork has not completely processed yet, but should be complete before the end of the year.
We have become an LLC based on wise legal council that it would be in our best interest to do so for a number of reasons that are honesty quite boring and lengthy.
What does this mean for the future of TDH? Are we selling out? Going "corporate?" No. From a member's point of view, nothing is changing at all. As slave1pilot pointed out, this is the same forum it has been for the past 6 years. We haven't been bought by anyone else and we haven't changed anything except our continual commitment to becoming a better and more professional site.
SO why did we put LLC in the name? Based on legal council, the protection of an LLC is of little use unless everything that boasts the TDH "brand" is changed to The Dented Helmet, LLC. If it wasn't necessary to put "LLC" in the name we wouldn't.
If you would like a brief overview of what an LLC is, you can read about it at Wikipedia.
