I know I am probably opening a can of worms, but ...
From the new photos provided by Boba Swede, I am now positive that this is the correct method for the loop in the hip pouches.
I think that the most common interpertaion of the hip pouches hanging off the Ammo Belt is by a loop designed in the top flap. This method, Correct me if I am wrong, is derived from the Pre-production photos of the pouches.
However, I do not believe this to be the method used for ROTJ. There IS a loop that allows the hip pouches to be hung on the utility belt, but it is a separate loop. In the attached photos there is a blue strip of fabric (probably a denim) that is stitched to the back of the top flap of the pouch creating the loop. The loop is not designed into the pouch itself, but a seperate add-on.
