HELP wof temp ?'s

ok today i bought a bunch of stuff to start my first helmet and i need to know how to put together the wizard of flight templates... it looks as though its made to be a mold? like theres a inside and a outside and some pieces are drawn on which i assume i need to use that for placement later.
basically i don't know what I'm doing so any and all help is welcome but heres what i have going. i printed 3 copies of each sheet just in case i mess up then i bought a bunch of poster board to glue the templates to for a sturdier templates and i have tape to tape it all and i bought a fiberglass kit (never used fiberglass either)
i have to say I'm nervous i have never taken on a project like this and i really want my Jodo kast to turn out right.

after further playing with the templates it looks like some of it is stiffeners for shape and i was wrong about it being a mold... so now I'm wondering where i should apply the fiberglass, inside or out or both?

I'd use fibreglass on the inside. If you have never worked with fibreglass before it will get messy (more than usual) and you'll want to keep the outside as clean as possbile.

BTW are you planning on using fibreglass on the posterboard or?

ok i will try putting it on the inside... um what do i do to harden the outside then?
and yah i was kinda thinking of putting the fiberglass right on the posterboard... is that bad?

I'm new here too, but I hated seeing so few answers to your questions! YOu might want to try the Boba Helmet forum, the jango forum or the variant forum, depending on where your inteded final result fits :) You'll get much more help and better answers!

There is lots of info on building from WoF templates here:

Antman's amazing all-cardboard versions (he is using paperboard, sometimes also called "bookboard," which is hard, compressed paper pulp, and can be found at picture-framing shops, art supply shops and sometimes at printer's shops)

There's more out there, but these should get you started :)

For the outside of your posterboard bucket, I'd use polyacrylic sealer to make it water proof. Then you can apply the fibreglass to the inside.

When I made the mini-Jango bucket for Jedimite, I used only polyeurathane to seal it... inside and out. Mine on the other hand, is made entirely out of styrene ( save for the dome ). If you take your time, WoF templates really are fairly straight forward to use. ;)

Thanks for linking my thread, LadyMdej!

SD81, it does take time. I've seen a several people go headlong into this kind of project and stop half way through out of frustration. the main thing to remember is to have fun! Mine's a custom so I'm still working on it even after 6 months.

David.
