Before Dragon*Con (actually the night before), I painted up a new set of knees for my Holiday Special Fett, which I showed off at Dragon*Con.
I've never done the "mustard technique" before. But thought I would give it a try!
I wish I would have taken more pictures throught the whole process.
These were styrene knees. I first sprayed two coats of silver spray paint. And let that dry for about 30 minutes or so.
Next step, was to apply the mustard. I used a q-tip and applied a glob of mustard in differnt places. This was where I wanted the silver to show thru.
Next I sprayed them with a few coats of yellow spray paint. I used a bright yellow to match Holiday Special Boba's paint scheme.
First coat:
Last coat: (You can see where the mustard was applied):
After the paint dried, I took a paper towel a wipe down the armor. Appling lots of pressure around the mustard so that the paint would peel off and reveal the silver underneath.
Afterword I took black spray paint and misted the armor. I also took a sharpie mark and puts some small dots here and there and then rubbed it to smear it in some areas.
Overall I am pretty please for my first time (even though I think I over did the mustard spots):
What do you think?
