Long Time, Here's the update!
First off, Jayvee, thank you for the input on the Humbrol Silver. It looks great with all of the other colors, and works great with the other layers. One thing about this color is that it needs the other colors layered on top of it to bring it out. By itself, it appears dull and un-interesting. Since the last update:
Masked and sprayed the dome and lower cheeks:
-Silver 11
-Grey 79
-Green 78
-Left Silver/Grey masking on lower cheeks and sprayed Grey 106 along lower edges.
-Used Rafalfett's stencils for the majority of the damage, however the dent stencil only in the dent area seems a bit large. Appears to be larger because of the depth worked into 2D. Eyeballed my stenciling for this part.
Masked and Sprayed upper Cheeks:
-Silver 11
-Matt Black 33
-Topically Applied Grey 79 along outline of silver damage (far easier).
Masked and stenciled Kill Stripes:
-Used Rafal's Stencils as the outline.
-Tamiya 6mm masking tape is more or less the perfect separation between stripes.
-liquid masked damage.
-Sprayed yellow 154 as the base layer, fading in orange 82 from the back.
-Pulling up the masking on this was awesome!
Began physical damage and other various details
-Had one small peeling issue with the large implied damage on the top part of the dome. I'm sure this will blend in better once wire wooled and clear coated. Other than that, this was my only issue.
-Touched up and refined all grey 79 areas
-touched up and refined all light grey 147 areas
-Mixed 1:1 grey 79 and black 33 for various details around dent and lower left cheek.
It's taking shape and has been very rewarding. I can almost see the end. Going to finish up the applied damage and whatnot on the dome, then move on to the mandibles. Hopefully will have the mandibles done by next weekend!
Also, I inserted my metal borden just to see what it would look like. This is a nice touch and adds some more interest to the piece! Camera seems to be adding a weird perspective to the helmet that is not what it appears to be in person. Hopefully can rectify with a better camera/lighting.
