Hi all. Before I can start my ESB Boba I have two kids costumes to build, a Republic Commandos (Boss) and my youngest sons ROTJ Boba. It will give me a chance to test my painting skills before I tackle mine.
I got some kids armour from Greg kidsclonearmour. The Republic Commando for my other son which is about 80% complete just needs final paint, weathering and webbing. The kits are great and easy to work with.
I have a set date in mind the first week in August to have them both completed. They have book week at school where on one day in the week they come dressed in their favourite book character and the costumes get judged by the principal. Well this year the boys want to win They want me to come along on the day in my TK to help them. With that said I have just over two weeks left to complete my task.
Just wating on a couple of things they are the gaunts, knees, back plate and jetpack all are coming by the end of this week, fingers crossed. Just have to source a kids jumpsuit which is pretty difficult. I have a vest and a few other things left over from my Boba purchase but they will need to be altered to fit him and have to make some shoes based on one of the great tutorials here.
We did a bit of a test fit with the little Fett. Tried on his soft parts and double sided taped his armour in place temporarily. Will have to pin and dart up the vest and need to fix the girth belt, probably just industrial velcro. Have his boots which need painting and the toe spikes added and some piping to make them look like Boba boots. If the rest of his stuff doesn't make it from the states in time he can borrow my knees and will have to make do without gaunts, back plate and jet pack for a little while. Have sorted out the paints for his helmet and armour which are pretty close as we can't get the exact pain matches here in Australia. The helmet doesnt have a dent so trying making the dent by slowly heating the area and pressing gently into the plastic and sclupting it. His hasbro blaster will be the last thing I paint if I have time. I will be taking a lot more off the return edge of his body armour to make sit closer to his body.
Any tips from the other Fetts out there or Mandos on how the armour should sit would be a great help.
In the pics we used his hasbro helmet because there was some glue drying on part of his helmet.
Oh did I mention I have to have them both finished before the first week in August
